What legal fees is there a dispute over. Would it typically be the DPP (NSW) wanting money to cover their costs? Or would it be Curtis was asking for the DPP (NSW) to cover some or all of his legal fees? Either way I think the hit to his form may end up costing him more contract money overall then paying an getting on with life.
In previous articles it was suggested Scott's lawyer requested the Police to pay his legal fees.
I can understand that deal falling over then. Would think the prosecution only need a guilty verdict on one of those minor charges and they wouldn't be liable for his legal costs. The are obviously counting on that while Scott's legal team are backing themselves to beat all charges.
Yeah but why would you fight it? If you have a settlement which protects you as the person from prison and other disciplinary measures the money side becomes irrelevant. Its obviously affecting him so the sooner you can shut the door and move on the better
Presumably because the prosecution have called 13 witnesses, experts etc the costs are going to be ridiculous.
Yeah but all legal costs stop once settled, doesn’t matter how many witnesses there were.
He should just treat the legal costs like a fine, take the slap on the risk and move on.
Bonehead decision not to take the settlement, the only winner out of this will be the lawyer. The longer it goes on, the bigger the bill.

Correct. If it doesn't go to hearing, no witnesses ever have to show up, so there's no expenses incurred there. The fees are literally just the lawyers fees for the court appearances thus far.
It would depend on the terms of the agreement on costs and for Scott, if it were me the best thing would be to get this cleared, put it behind him and focus on reviving my career, which is in a very precarious postion right now...
But also, if i were subjected to police miscounduct (which is the claim of the Scott camp) and the prosecution brought forward charges inspite of this, got 6 months down the track, including multiple hearings and god knows how many billable hours, then realised they cant make the case, to the point where we are right now... i'd probably be pretty pissed and very hestitant about absorbing costs for defending myself against charges that (in their mind at least) should never have been laid.
You **** up, you should wear the costs.

I'd love to be in the precarious position of having 1.5mil owed to me over the next 3 years
haha, indeed Rog. Wouldnt we all?
But that's money. His money on this contract might be solid, but his career beyond it is in deep trouble. Unless he turns it around here and rather quickly, he's not going to have a meaningful footy career post this contract. And if he steps out of line again, probably before this contract is scheduled to end.

I can still remember Orford knocking on during a scrum and costing us the match against the Tits.
Like yesterday.
I hope Scott isn’t on that level.
haha I was in Bangkok on my honeymoon...It ruined everything

Hey! I was in Bangkok that weekend, too.
Though not on your honeymoon.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
