Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident
I think we'll end up keeping him.
We have no depth at centre.
We're paying circa $450k for BJ to play with the tigers.
There's a lack of time and quality replacement players around in time for round one.
This idiot has just sent our season into a tailspin before it's even started.
Meanwhile we released a good player to go play with a rival team....and even pay for him to do so!
I'm livid.
If we keep him he'll be suspended for a good while.
If we release him we'll end up with Cotric at centre. Now Nic is a quality winger, but he struggles a bit at centre.
So we play a great winger at centre and risk a depth player like Oldfield on the wing, or risk a rookie like HSS

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident
I think the days of us sacking someone just for another club to sign them are no more.
I also think he will serve a suspension and we will move past this. We dont need to over-react.
Assaulting a police office could be a range of things from accidentally striking them when being arrested to a full blown assault. Police lay the charges then look at them and see what they can stick , usually dropping a few .
Lets chill and let it run its course

Typically the GH will call for the death penalty.
Because that's who they are.
So quick to judge.
How about we wait a few days hey?

Weren't there rumours he had played up the night before yet this incident happened at 12:45 this morning?
So either Scott is a dud and was naughty twice or it is just a weird coincidence.

Re: Wests Tigers sign Joey Leilua from Canberra Raiders
Reports are he threw a mobile phone at a passing car, fell asleep in the parklands, police were called, then he punched a cop.

You couldn’t write this stuff.
We officially release our strike centre the day that the person we brushed him for shows why Melbourne said see ya later.
Now we are in the hole and it’s on this ridiculous decision.
The bloke is a loose unit and it takes one look online to see it the way he behaves.
Ricky should have known better than to think his mate Bellamy would give up a good one.
This is classic raiders BS that I hoped we had seen the last of. Sadly here we are again. Joke.

No interest in defending this behaviour it’s just selfish, not thinking of the bigger picture type stuff that was synonymous here during the Dugan/carney/Ferguson years

NRL player Curtis Scott tasered after allegedly punching officer in the face
Canberra Raiders rugby league player Curtis Scott spent the night behind bars after allegedly punching a police officer in the face and getting tasered.
Police will allege that the new Raiders recruit threw a mobile phone at a passing car in the parklands close to the Sydney Cricket Ground precinct about 2am on Monday. It is alleged that Scott, 22, then fell asleep on the grass, leading security to ring police.

Thanks... reports require links under forum guidelines.
Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident
Cut him loose. Roll with Smith Shields as backup. See what shakes out in other available players.
We don't need a germ around for Jack and Cotric to get on the turps with.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident
On face value he is going to face a very decent stint away from footy but I am sure we will stick solid given its a 4 year deal.
I'd say we need to find a CNK or Simmo signing though.

Assaulting a Police Officer. He'll be lucky not to do time.
Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident
The really disappointing thing for me is like Wighton or many others he clearly got off his face in the middle of pre season.
That in itself is very unprofessional and also leads to situations that can get out of control. Then whenever these guys get into altercations there are going to be issues like this because if a NRL player is going off his head it is going to take some strength to bring him down.

Can’t help but think our Sydney Tourists will be flogged in a field session to within an inch of their lives tomorrow by Nigel Ashley Jones.
Re: Canberra Raiders recruit Curtis Scott arrested after Moore Park incident
I’m at a loss for words for this. This was a big chance for the club, big chance for this young man, and he’s put it in all in jeopardy
I wouldn’t complain if they did just tear the contract up, but I don’t think that’ll be the outcome.

Sigh. Who could possibly have thought that a bunch of footballers partying in Sydney on Australia Day would end like this? Disappointed that he was in the company of Whitehead and Bateman earlier in the day tbh.
For the record though, I think people are reading a bit too much into his charges, in the sense that they are a classic cluster of charges that roll through magistrates courts across the country every week (the trifecta, or the ham, cheese and tomato sandwich). Not an excuse for any of it, but they suggest circumstances much more mundane than Wighton’s to me.

It’s well past time the NRL deregistered these clowns for periods of years.
