Yeah the only issue might be the price. He's certainly an improvement on their current players.

I'll be very dissapointed if BJL leaves Canberra.

He's a weapon. I'm scratching my head as to why it's come to this really.

I can understand in the grand scheme of things Stick and Don are planning 1-2 years in advance and settling our squad but BJ is ripe right now.

Anyway..I'm more than happy with our new boys and can't wait for the Tits...

He’s one of a long list of random over rated Sydney based players imo.

I’d consider him ok squad player at 250k or less but double that ugh.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

I agree that he's overrated and probably slightly overpriced, but considering that we were paying Abbey $220k a season you'd think Douehi would be worth $350-400k at least...

I mean the guy stood head and shoulders above their other players (bar Walker) in a semi while also playing out of his preferred position, moving about during the year and had injuries.
He's 21.
From the tigers perspective he's ticking all the boxes.

As mentioned by someone else. 700k.
Even if he hadn't had the injury he'd probably have moved on as we can't offer that kind of money to him anymore.

Yeah im with you, i think he is overrated but he's still a pretty handy footballer and someone who can help the tigers continue to improve. If i were them i'd sign him for 2-3 years, you get a look, maybe he develops into what people thought he'd be, but if not 2 years from now you'll be ready to move on from him without major consequences

If they signed Douehi and Beej, i think they could sneak into the finals this year

If G.Williams aint it, Beej isnt going to save us from the turn in fortunes that's coming.
Im very keen on keeping Beej and to me he's my #4 until he's not here and Scott/Simo situation can figure itself out, but i dont agree we've moved further away... at least not on paper

There is absolutely no reason to believe an international half wont be an upgrade @ #7. And as long as he is, we're a better team even without Joey. Scott is no bum, he's a very talented footballer, different sort of player but very talented.

Overall, whilst i want to keep Beej... this season and our chances rest on George Williams. If he's legit quality NRL half, we're going to be really hard to beat, with or without Beej... if he sucks, we're going to be in for a decline, with or without Beej.
If Williams ends up however as a "solid" but not spectacular halfback in our squad, then we will still need that x factor / strike power (kind of like Sezer this year). I guess this is all guesswork and time will tell.
The fact G-Williams was substantially below Jackson Hastings in the English half rankings is my concern. Time will tell as you say.
Yeh and how did that work out for old Wayne and his Lions!
He will be an attacking threat for us. I’ve written before, with Hodgo calling all our plays we’ve become kind of predictable. Ie shut him down/pressure him etc...and you go a long way to shutting us down. Gwilly gives us spark and with Wighton doing a similar running thing I think we will be pretty dangerous attack wise.

I doubt Douehi is really on 500k. It's one of those random overs contracts that gets leaked whenever people are asking questions about how a team can afford to bring in better players.

Assuming those come off, this it the possible Tigers 17:
1. Doueihi
2. Nofoluma
3. Momirovski
4. BJ
5. Thompson
6. Brooks
7. Benchi
8. Twal
9. Mbye
10. Mikaele
11. Chee-Kam
12. Garner
13. Taylor

14. Walters/ JRey (pending hearing)
15. Lil Leilua
16. Aloiai
17. Eisenhuth

I still cant see them making finals, #9 again for mine, but they are trying to re-blood the place.

There are just way way too many "brain explosions" In poor old BJ.

Add to that, Rapana going, neither of them were half the player with the other missing.

Wests Tigers deal to decide whether Joey Leilua stays with Canberra Raiders or goes

Joey Leilua's happy in Canberra, but whether he stays with the Raiders will come down to what the Wests Tigers offer. He's believed to be on about $600,000 with the Green Machine for 2020, although he's already been paid almost a quarter of that.

"He's happy there. He's fine to stay [with the Raiders]. There's no dramas whatsoever," Leilua's manager Paul Sutton said.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

What do we get out of releasing him??

Maybe we don’t want to stand in his way but if he fits in our cap and we aren’t going to lose anyone to keep him, i say, keep him.

The club is thinking 12 months down the track. CScott is here now so it's a ready replacement now.

If we lost Bateman or Wighton or Papalii because we held onto to BJ too long all on here would flip.

In saying that..I'm a huge fan of BJ. Go back throughout this entire forum, I am truely. He's a game breaker and at 28? has plenty of opposition to run over yet!!

But I get where the club is coming from and I'm on board with it.

We have some special players needing upgrades.

Premiership windows often don't stay open for more than 24 months, I would have preferred BJ here over Scott for next year based on that. We already have a big question mark over halfback, now we also have one on the right edge which has been a huge strength of ours the past 4 seasons.

On his best day he is great but his best days are few and far between. I think he costs us more than he wins us games with his lack of discipline. A liability in defence also. Joey was great when we had a mindset of outscoring other teams to win no matter how many they scored but now we have it together with our defence he no longer fits into our best 17 IMHO

The crucial part of info that we are missing here as a fan base is BJs recovery from a very serious injury last year.

No one knows that better than our S+C team - that could be playing a big part in this.

I don't really agree. With our increased focus on grit and defence we lacked some flair and polish in attack at times this year... having someone like a BJ in the team nicely complements the "grit" we've been cultivating this last season or so. I do agree when he behaves like a bonehead on the field at times it can be frustrating.

No one knows that better than our S+C team - that could be playing a big part in this.
Knees in the back in the in-goal and not passing to Raps in the GF were a bigger part i'm tipping...

So true. His effort (or lack thereof) in the first try was way worse than BJ i reckon. I don't agree with this impending Leilua release and think a BJ playing for a contract here or elsewhere for 2021 could be Marshawn Lynch beast mode stuff this year.

I said it earlier and maintain Stuart is ruthless. Once he stamps your card you're done

Even if BJ was a saint if he's not willing to take a huge paycut we wouldn't be able to fit him in.
The guys on the upgrade path are Cotric, Bateman and Wighton. If you were looking at the next 4 years (including this one) I think the decision makes itself.
