I had to look up what CNKs injury was: "Compound Dislocation - one in which the joint communicates with the outside air through a wound." Sounds not fun... Recovery time is listed as four to six weeks :(

I’ve had one. Big toe.

If no accompanying ligament dmg 3-4 weeks.

If it doesn’t go back in and they need to operate... longer

I guess it depends on the finger too, which I haven't seen any confirmation on. A little finger maybe you can play with it strapped, anything else and no hope.

Canberra Raiders fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad set to miss 1-2 weeks

Canberra Raiders fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is set to miss just one or two weeks after having surgery on the gruesome finger injury he suffered in the gritty win over South Sydney.

The New Zealand international could be back in time to face the ladder-leading Penrith Panthers at Penrith on Saturday week.

Great news Canberra Raiders fans! Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad is through some minor surgery for his finger compound dislocation! No bone or ligament damage so he’s hoping he won’t miss too much game time!

That is great news for CNK most importantly, and the club as well.

It did not look good at the time. :spew:

I’m stunned there was no fracture
That’s incredibly lucky... I’m no doctor but I would think a compound dislocation without a fracture would be pretty rare

Great news for us though. Think he’ll be back after one week

Every club’s injury toll ranked from 1-16

1. Raiders

Out of all the teams vying for the title, the Raiders are the ones with the worst injury toll. Canberra have been absolutely destroyed up front with Soliola out for the season and Bateman, Guler and Horsburgh all spending significant time on the sidelines. The season-ending ACL tear was a cruel blow for Hodgson and Canberra’s premiership chances. Then the injury curse spread to the outside backs with Nicoll-Klokstad, Scott, Oldfield and Simonsson all going down. While Canberra have shown themselves to be more than capable of overcoming the injury woes, the sheer number of long-term setbacks they have demand they are put up the top. In saying this, any other team would crumble under this kind of pressure but the Raiders have had season-defining wins over tough opposition without their stars. It is a combination of their strong depth and the culture Ricky Stuart has built which has them primed to deal with the crippling injury toll.

We're hardest hit by injuries across the board but I reckon Knights are making a run at us. Now lost all 3 hookers on their books for the season. Euqivalent of us losing Hodgo, Havili and Starling. If that happened we'd probably need Frawley to don the no9.

Just goes to show how Rugby League has changed over the last 30 or so years. There was a time when the loss of a gun player in a key position (half, hooker, fullback) would cripple a team irreparably. Happened to us in 1993 when Ricky broke his leg during his best ever season. Despite the rest of the team being full of talent, the Raiders went out the back door in a screaming heap.

Nowadays, players are a lot more fungible. Forwards can play edge/lock no worries, and many backs can adequately cover wing, centre and fb. The half and dummy-half still play a specialist role, but many teams can do well without having gun players in both of those positions for good portions of the season (e.g. Raiders 2019).

I hope he has a speedy recovery. We need depth. I like Oldy, he has good pace, but I don't know whether we should continue with him next year - very injury prone and I didn't like what I've seen this year. (St George game comes to mind). Perhaps a minimum contract to stay.

Terrible news for him, but it at least keeps him out of Stuart's mind as an option in the centres. Pressure now on Curtis Scott to deliver.

It might come down to a choice between keeping him and Rapana. Plenty of young wingers coming up, no reason to clog the place up with older journeyman style wingers. One of Rapa/Oldy for experience + Simo who will be a 3rd season player by 2021. Anyone else needs to be a high quality signing or go with the kids we have.

It's basically why he's never nailed down a FG spot despite being a pretty capable winger when on the park- big, decent yards, great pace etc. But every club he's been at he's been injured a couple of times and allowed others to get into his spot and never had a really long run of form as a result.

Emre Guler's earliest return date has been shifted back to Round 18.
