The Aussie rep won't be playing in the centres though.
It's really Scott vs Leilua and we're pretty certain Leilua won't be here beyond 2020, let alone what might happen over the offseason.
We’re all talking about how they both fit into team but the fact is they don’t. One will be playing Mounties. And it won’t be the new guy.
We didn’t need to sign Scott for next year. We needed a centre for 2021. But the club did got one anyway, so that means they want BJ playing ressies. And the only reason to make a star play ressies is get him to leave.
We don’t have to worry about BJ in 2021 because he’s not contracted. So the only explanation is they’re hoping he hates Mounties so much he’ll take whatever he’s been offered and go before 30 June.
I cannot see Joey Leilua playing Mounties... a year ago, he was Dally M Centre of the Year. if you've got both Leilua and Scott at the club, you find a spot for both of them.
Yeah, assuming keeping Beej is actually the plan, and maybe it is but I don’t really believe that yet... but let’s assume it is
I think the club probably has said to Scott, hang out and do your job on the wing for a year... then it’s into the centre spot going forward... I think if Beej is here it means Havilii is playing reggies, not Beej or Scott
Also, let’s be serious, there is going to be probably 10-15 games where an outside back is hurt/suspended and this is a straight forward selection decision
Leilua is not playing Reggies. He's our best centre. Why the **** would you not play him if he's in the team? It'd be like the Storm not playing Vunivalu after he signed for the Reds.
Seriously, if the club has the cash to keep him and he wants one more shot to win a comp at the Raiders, I have no idea why you'd push him out.
The guy will surely be motivated to prove to the NRL that he's worth a good contract. Let's cash in on that motivation!
Canberra Raiders co-captain Jarrod Croker not getting off Curtis Scott free
He's played 257 NRL games, scored 127 tries and is the Canberra Raiders co-captain, but the arrival of Curtis Scott has Jarrod Croker looking over his shoulder.
"Curtis has played both sides so I've got to be on my toes. He's a quality player. He was obviously in the Blues emerging squad for a reason. He's a talented footballer and he's signed here long term.

The storm tend not to let too many slip through their fingers they really want to hold onto
They have been good until recently in maintaining their leadership core of Smith, Slater, Cronk and Bromwich. Things are starting to change now. Addo-Carr, Vunivalu, Proctor, Cronk etc have all looked elsewhere. It will be interesting to see how their third party deals suffer once they lose a few more experienced players.
I dont think there is any secret that he had some issues off the field and clashed with Bellemy about how best to manage them. He was also released with years to go on his deal... so yeah, not breaking news to say the Storm were happy to see him go.
He had a relationship break up and handled it poorly. So if one of you would could step up and make the man happy it'd really help the team out. I hear he likes a polished head and a sense of humour.
The storm have been losing quality talent for years. Even before the salary cap, they had released folau for instance. Theyve also since let inglis go, cody walker couldnt even first grade.. so i dont buy into rubbish that the fact the storm allowed him to leave means he aint good. Yes he has had problems with his foot (this has been well publicized) and mentally due to a messy break up earlier this year. But lets not forget that despite these concerns he did manage to relegate the current state of origin centre to the bench for the finals..
I see him as no greater risk then any other signing, but one with a hell of a lot of upside

He clearly has a few drinking issues, probably linked to his anger management issues. Signs aren't great that he's willing to address them, but maybe being tasered will wake him up.

Woah. I remember posting about this a few months ago saying this is the sort of player we should take a punt on IF we lost Beej... there is a lot of moving parts here and if this comes off you'd have to think Beej is out
But this could be a masterstroke or an absolute **** disaster. I always bet on upside. I like it.

Starting betting on downside.
Never. Betting on solid, unspectactular journeyman is what Matt Elliott did time and time again.
Always bet on talent and upside.
Im glad you quoted this, as i said elsewhere, i went into this eyes wide open about the potenital for this to be a disater.
I think you'll find later in this thread i said i wouldnt take Scott over Beej, and would rather we keep Beej too.
