Going to be a good back 5 again next year:

1. CNK
2. Croker
3. Scott
4. Leilua
5. Cotric

4 years!

Ok so it's (likely) BJ for one year at centre and Scott at wing or #14.

I'm not convinced yet he's better than Simo so I hope he ha to earn it.

I can't see a guy like Scott coming (or being signed) to be a 14 so either BJ is leaving and we haven't heard about it yet or Scott will be getting a crack at wing.

I agree. Simonsson and cotric will be our starting wingers. Make no mistake about it. For the record, i reckon bj will leave otherwise Scott will be coming of the bench until he finds so fitness (remembering that he is currently injured)

I dont base this on any inside information or anything but reading the tea leaves as i see them... and i could easily be wrong...

but i dont think this guy is coming to play wing, or 14. or play for mounties. He's coming here to be our long term centre. A beej move feels like a forgone conclusion... and that's just the way i like it, Mark.

Is this a new injury after he played against the roosters in week 3 of the finals?

I'd be really sad to see BJ leave. The strut, the swagger, the Godzilla like charges, the way he always reminded me somehow of a giant naughty 5 year old who just liked pushing other kids over...

I could cry if Leilua leaves. Rapana was upsetting but the Leilua attack highlight reel is probably better than anyone bar maybe Campese since the golden days.

Yeah, it will be remarkable if Leilua sees our his contract. At the end of the day it appears his manager was looking for an upgrade and an extension a year out, so the club had to do something to be on the front foot. A 4 year deal for Scott indicates they also see Cotric on the wing long term.

BJ certainly bought an X factor to our team that could disrupt organised opposition defences.

Yeah, there aren't too many players like Leilua who can make something out of nothing. Unbelievable force when he's fit and focussed.

Curtis Scott’s a talented centre, I think he’s better than Lomax at this stage. But neither are in the ball park of Joey. It would be an enormous loss, and one I’m not sure we can afford.

I’m still backing this whole premiership window thing and given the Roosters and Storm both look like they may be presenting lesser teams in 2020, it makes little sense for us to punt BJ and not go all in next season.

The betting market doesn't see us in the top two teams in 2020... ranking third at present. Not in a premiership window according to them! Roosters and Storm are favourites.

I think BJ's close to the top of the curve and the best teams have a knack of releasing good players at exactly that point.

Scott for BJ suggests even more focus on a defensive and conservative game plan. And a winning one.

Im not trading bj for any centre in the world. If we have signed scott for 4 years then he can start off as our 14. Because of the 4 years hes not in a position where contracts are a concern for him and we can play the long game.

100% agree.
And I’m ok with the clubs decision, in fact I applaud them for keeping the squad young and fresh.

This, hold on to leilua for one more year, let him go when his contract is done.

Leilua is the kind of players that could go epic on a contract year to.

It pains me to say it cause ive been an avid supporter of bj since his time at the knights, but i agree with this sentiment. I dont want to see him go but talk that it would drastically move the needle southward are off the mark. Lets not forget that he missed 80% of the season last year. This team was just as great without him last year at least

OFFICIAL: Curtis Scott signs with the Canberra Raiders on a four year deal

The Canberra Raiders can confirm Melbourne Storm centre Curtis Scott has agreed to a four-year deal with the club commencing 2020.

Scott, 22, has been granted a release from the final two years of his contract with the Storm and will now take up the new deal with the Raiders which will see him with the club until the end of the 2023 season.

A dynamic ball running centre, Scott has scored 18 tries in his 48 appearances for the Storm and joins the Raiders with an opportunity to further establish himself as one of the games rising stars.

Raiders NRL Recruitment and High-Performance Director Peter Mulholland said the signing of Scott was very exciting for the club, with his potential and experience at such a young age making him a very valuable acquisition.

“Curtis is a player we believe has a very big future in the game and we’re thrilled to have him join us for the next four seasons,” Mulholland said. “At just 22 he’s already been able to play almost 50 NRL games and he’s an exciting talent who will give our squad a player who is hungry to further his development and become an even better player.”

Scott will commence training with the club early December.
