The board's already ruled out his return to the club. Can't imagine it happening. After the damage he's caused to the club and its reputation, I think it is the right call, IMO.

I’d let him play, it’s a Micky Mouse Comp and it’s treated like that by our club so what is the big deal. One less potential injury to an NRL squad member.
It’s been 12 years I think he has grown up and people should get over it.

List of players I don’t want to see sent to this event:

Bateman
Hodgo
Wighton
CNK
Papa
Tapine (walking injury)

I assume atleast one of them will go as I recall us having to send one of our top 5 players?

I’d put G.Will on the list too but I think he’ll be sent for media reasons.

I’d love to see Simonsson and Smith-Shields get a run though! They should be dangerous in this format.

If I were the coach, looking for a "guest" player... I'd look at the former Raiders who are playing Canberra Raiders Cup. Shaun Fensom or Terry Campese are players who genuinely deserve the farewell game in green that they never had. Others still playing... Mitch Cornish, Reece Robinson, Jarrad Kennedy still go well. Others still playing... Lincoln Withers, Sam Mataora, Glen Buttriss, Drury Low, Michael Brophy... but Campese or Fensom would be the biggest name and most popular candidates.

Joel Monaghan probably wouldn't be considered...

Campo and DeFensom sound like good additions for the nines, Carney should never be given a green Jersey again. He can buy one if he wants one like the rest of us.

Looks like a fishing expedition to me... but if it does happen, I'd be pretty disappointed in the club.

Couldn’t see the club burn some goodwill by having Carney run out in the green jersey again.

If I was still collecting jerseys I'd definitely buy this one. I really like the white, yellow, blue colouring effect on the shoulders.

It sounds more like a sequel than a farewell.

I think he, especially deserves a better farewell from the club. He singlehandedly (at times) brought our club up to a pretty good standard there for a few seasons. Loved the passion he played with, and also passion to the jersey.

CONFIRMED: Todd Carney won’t play for Canberra Raiders in Perth NRL Nines

The Canberra Raiders won’t invite ex-Raider Todd Carney to play in next month’s rugby league Nines in Perth after an on line petition with 1700 signatures called for a "swan song" in the tournament. Carney and Raiders co-captain Jarrod Croker engaged in some Twitter banter on the possibility, but the club has ruled it out.

Perth Nines - Which Raiders legend would you like to see come back?

Post by Sid »

I don’t think we’ll see any of the old boys come out for the Raiders this tournament. Raiders said last time around that it was a lot of mucking around to get it over the line last times. I’m expecting a second string side, which after making the grand final I’d be okay with..

but to answer the question, I’d like to see Josh Miller.
