Indeed.

He also loves piling in on people third or fourth man in without adding anything to the overall argument, which is exactly what I'm doing now.

I'm going to have to repost my original post, aren't I? I clearly stated at the time that I was very disappointed in 2017-18 however I was optimistic for 2019 and I listed my reasons why!

Just because some of you are incapable of changing your mind and admitting you're wrong *cough cough* Aidan Sezer *cough*, I am not one of those people.

Oh boy. Gonna hate to be the one to break this to ya Ricko, old pal, it's like telling a kid Santa Claus isn't real.... I wasn't wrong about Aidan Sezer. In fact, I was dead right the entire time. And, the proof is all in the pudding in front of us - the name of that pudding is 'We Signed George Williams To Replace Him'.

Twelve NRL clubs already circling Jack Wighton after rejecting Canberra Raiders option

Twelve NRL clubs have already inquired about Clive Churchill Medallist Jack Wighton since he turned down an option with the Canberra Raiders for 2021.

"In the end he'll weigh everything up of what's going to be best for him and his family. It's going to be a big call for him because no less than 12 clubs have called me in the last three days," manager Matt Rose said.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Look, I take those comments from his manager with a grain of salt.

For all we know those clubs include Toronto, Toulouse, Noosa Pirates and the Titans.

I love Jack, he's had a great year. If someone wants to pay him a million dollars a year, go for it. Jack is 27 and finally showed a decent season. He's got maybe 4 years left and wants every cent he can get. Fine. No bad feelings.

But I really can't see how he's worth the silly money usually reserved for the elite .

Either way, we win.

He's an Origin and Australian Test player, alongside being a Clive Churchill medallist. I doubted him massively at the start of the year but it's hard to argue that he isn't in the elite bracket right now.

Sure, he's probably been aided because of the decline we've had in quality centres and halves across the board, but everything is on a relative scale - clubs will be prepared to pay him elite money, and we're gonna have a time tough to find a replacement of equal or greater quality.

The Raiders expected Wighton to knock back the option given he's changed management since his previous contract

Wighton's previous manager, and not Rose, would continue to get paid until the end of 2021 if the option was taken up.

For someone who can kick on one side (out on full every 3rd game) and struggle to pass straight I don't think he's even worth the money he's on atm. Very one dimensional player. He's technically a strong backrower with a bit of skill more like a poor man's wade Graham. He got so much ball to win us the gf and failed.

Exactly. Including us, that’s 80% of the comp who think they have $1mill or very close to that free in cap for Jack.

I’m not buying.

I bloody hate managers who act like this. From all reports, Jack has knocked back because he wants to extend, and increase pay. That’s fine. I can also understand that a new manager would prefer to renegotiate to get his cut - that’s his job. But all of that can happen out of the media - leaking this crap is just nonsense and serves nobody but the manager chasing a name for himself. Had anyone heard of this bloke last week?

Correct.
I dont think the club is particularly worried about either leaving. He'll get a new deal, so will John Bateman. And we'll see what those numbers come in at and who we've got to lose to make it happen.
