First heart attack of the morning cleared: ACT Policing's twitter had reported that the northbound lanes of the Federal Highway were blocked at Eagle Hawk - but this is now cleared.

Waiting for sister to roll up at mine - we will launch around 11.

What a day for the true believers. Most “experts” have us losing by more than 2 tries. If we play to the best of our ability, I have no doubt it will be close. We need driving defence, isolating Verrils in the middle for a quick play the ball, smart kicking to the corners and good discipline, building into a more expansive game as we get comfortable, using Bateman/CNK on the right to bring Leilua into the game and Wighton/Whitehead on the left. Defensively, no cheap “bomb to Tupou” tries - that means plenty of bodies around the ball when they kick to him, and giving away an escort penalty if we have to (back our defence to go again).

Update: hearing reports the highway is still blocked and slow. A police operation at a farm by the sounds. Could be a problem.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

As a Bradford Bulls fan who hadn’t watched an NRL game up until about 5 years ago I was about ready to give up on rugby league (Bradford’s problems are very well publicised). But then I started watching Canberra, slowly my love for the greatest sport in the world started to come back. Then when Whitehead came over, a player I saw make his debut for Bradford years earlier and I was a full on Raider. It hasn’t been the easiest ride over the past few years but now Bateman and Whitehead are back together in the back row I’m starting to believe anything is possible.

I honestly never thought I’d get the chance to be as excited for a game as I am for the upcoming grand final.

Whatever happens every single player and member of staff has performed way above any hope or expectation at the start of the season. Win or lose this team will be remembered. BUT, we’re here now so let’s go and win the thing.

A slightly inebriated Pom.

We got this boys we got this!! Here we all are together as one!

Ive been reading this forum since probably its inception and Ive seen all the arguments, all the joys and all the lows and Ive rearly posted because there are some real armchair experts here lol. Ive listened to nearly all the raiders podcasts and I have bleed green since 2001 as a late follower of league I am now 33 and my son is 7 who along with my wife will be going today as we were there last Friday.

I am a Sydney Raider so traveling down the Hume isnt always easy especially when my job requires me to oftenly work weekends but I was there last time we played the chooks and I remember the beating we copped in magic round. Losing twice this year to the chooks has placed us in a position of deep desire the have a third time crack at them and I honestly am not nervous becuase if there is a team in the NRL that can beat the chooks at their best it is us the might freaking RAIDERS!

I have been surprisingly calm all week. Almost like an acceptance that the boys have got this. Now as I don my jersey and hat to head to the airport to fly to Sydney, the butterflies have started.

I sense that there are many in the Roosters side carrying injuries and this might tell over a tough 80 minutes. We got this boys, get stuck in, drive hard, the trophy will be ours.

I was one who doubted this day would happen again for the raiders.

When the salary cap double standards ,player misbehaviour and influx of codes impacted on our results.
But here we are, and playing the roosters, the anti-raiders,for supremacy.

It’s meant to be,good vs evil, struggle vs power.
Heart and soul and grit and mateship vs entitlement and salary cap sombrero and judiciary leniency and fair weather fans.

It’s for mal meninges tears and a hundred beers and for screaming for your team.

This is the day !!!
