It’s all happening!
Re: Canberra Raiders fans unite for the Grand Final!
Our plan is to come to one of those for lunch and then go into the ground. I guess the advantage I have as well is there are a lot of bars in the members so not particularly hard to get a drink and I think it is full strength. (I don’t drink much) also probably no more expensive than the brewery.greeneyed wrote: ↑September 30, 2019, 8:49 pmWe should try The Locker Room Hotel for lunch... see how it goes!Coastalraider wrote: ↑September 30, 2019, 5:27 pmThat’s my theory too I think. Anyone headed in earlier for lunch??
Just one thing about ANZ Stadium there are no pass outs so you can’t go to the State Champs Final, go out and come back for first grade.
Re: Canberra Raiders fans unite for the Grand Final!
Brave comment Turt. BTW I agree. Very rarely drink before or at the games.Turt wrote: ↑October 1, 2019, 4:15 pmYou could just watch the game and not drinkThe Rickman wrote: ↑October 1, 2019, 11:11 amGod, it was a two drink maximum in Canberra on Friday night too.LastRaider wrote: ↑October 1, 2019, 9:31 am Just remember getting a beer on grand final day in the stadium is a night mare. Two drink maximum and bar feels like miles away from the supporters bay.
I’ll be staying at the brewery until about an hour prior to kick off
What an absolutely ridiculous system, who ever thought of that? All it does is make the lines longer and ensure you miss more of the game. Absolutely rubbish.

Ill be heading down from the Central Coast on the train to get to the brewery by the time its starts. If theres any fellow Coasties training it down, we should all meet and go down together.
Im even thinking about doing a quick pit stop at a pub opposite from strathfield station if some are keen.

I live in Bronte. Have been strutting around each night in my Raiders kit. Thinking of a big breakfast at Ruby's on Sunday. RIGHT?!
EDIT
Re: Canberra Raiders fans unite for the Grand Final!
Just on this, I hope to see something historic on Sunday. To see the club back at the top after so many lean years will mean more to me than i'm prepared to admit.
Mostly this week I've been able to suppress most of my emotions and enjoy the week for what it is, but I would add that in a thread like this one about Raiders fans uniting before and during, that breaks me down the most and stirs the emotions. People wiser than me have often referred to the notion that it isn't always about the destination, but the journey and friends you make along the way. I have been extremely lucky to make some friends for life along the way through this football club, sharing the ups and downs and our lives in the stands and outside of footy. There are relationships and even children that exist because of the club. I've stood besides a lot of people on this forum at Raiders matches and others I've just crossed paths with along the way.
So If I get to see you on Sunday, be sure to say hi. It's been one hell of a ride to get to this point, and hopefully it is only just the beginning of some of the best times everyone has had together. Appreciate the friendship and laughs over the years, even if we haven't always agreed on football matters.

KW has been talking to The Brewery in last day or so. He says the capacity is 3,000, given they expand the venue dramatically. Please be aware, however, that there will heavy demand for entry to the venue, and the venue will limit entry to safe capacity.
There are presently over 570 people on our Facebook page saying they are going... and over 750 saying they are interested.
If you find that the venue is at capacity, remember there is The Precinct surrounding Stadium Australia, which is a family friendly zone of activities, food and drink, and there are other venues and pop ups at Homebush.

I have seen today that The Locker Room Hotel has a large function room and rooftop, as well as a downstairs. They are hosting an "official Sydney Roosters" pre-game event upstairs it appears... $300 a person for three hours, fully catered.
I'm assuming they'll also have an area for the public.

YES! My heartfelt post is bringing down the Roosters margin by the second. I think we can get Raiders in front by Sunday at this rate

If we have issues with lunch, everyone keep an eye on the forum and we can post any late changes for the pre-pre game meetup.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

I’m in 100%.
Re: Canberra Raiders fans unite for the Grand Final!
Yeah im pretty sure my wife and I are not heading into the precinct until late
We are one of the couples, and our kids are some of the kids woodgers spoke of that wouldnt exsist without this club. My wife and i met in the Raiders Army, but having young kids means we dont get to spend quality time with each other the way we used to, so we'll be using the day to have a bit of day out the way we used to, whilst i'd love to catch up with a bunch of people... the idea of being crammed into one of 2 venues and waiting 30 minutes for a drink and screaming over each other to say g'day... that's not for me
We plan to hang in the city most the day, head out to the precinct around 5:30-6pm, catch up with people if we can get into the venues and if not... hopefully we'll run into a few familar faces as we line the fences to celebrate afterwoods.

Re: Canberra Raiders fans unite for the Grand Final!
Great stuff. It certainly hasn’t been the case previously. I was there last year but didn’t notice them doing it. One of the key issues is whether they have dedicated smoking areas inside the venue. That tends to determine whether they have passouts. They do have them at ANZ (even though I don’t have any use for them)Coastalraider wrote: ↑October 4, 2019, 9:16 am Woohoo!! Re: Canberra Raiders fans unite for the Grand Final!
I was wearing raiders gear yesterday and some random bloke was telling me about the pre meet at the brewery.. i think its going to be massive but am hoping to drop in for 1 or 2 before settling in. Meeting 2pm right?
I live in maroubra and have been very popular this week wearing lime green. Its no secret the bunnies supporters have a deep hatred for the roosters. As a mate said to.me on the way back from canberra last week, 'id support the taliban if they were in a contest against the roosters'.
Re. What this club means to me.. its no doubt that our suppprt of the raiders are the main reason that i share the closest bond with my dad of all my brothers. Ive made some amazing friends due the club. It drives my wife nuts that it doesnt matter what we do or where we go i always seem to single out a raiders supporter.
Anyway, its been a long time coming. Whatever the result sunday, this will always go down as a great year

Our humble townhouse is probably a more spacious venue than the Brewery but not by a lot!
