2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*

Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews
I don't think it is a virus, but I also don't think it is anything serious enough to hold him back from the game. The hard part is - if it is a shoulder or elbow, it is hard to hide in the middle of the field (and he cannot defend on an edge due to his slow lateral movement). Always possible Stuart is playing a smokescreen, but I get a feeling there is something wrong.
Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Before the Storm/Goosters game, I thought we were a decent chance of beating either, but I also thought Storm were due a win against us and we are due a win against Goosters.

Only Tuesday, I'm sure Hodgson will be right by Sunday. May be crook, may have a knock, may be giving him a spell if he was in fact concussed after the collision that caused the HIA storm.
Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews
If he was concussed can we give him another before we run out on Sunday. He went next level
I personally don't believe he was concussed. You can get a bit dizzy for a few secs from a knock and shake it off without being concussed.

Hodgo is one tough bastard. Cronk can play with a broken scapula? Hodgo would play with two.

How Roosters supremo Nick Politis ended up sponsoring Raiders star John Bateman
Sydney Roosters supremo Nick Politis has been a rugby league sponsor for longer than anyone.
Yet there is one third-party deal he may live to regret in Sunday’s grand final.
One of more than 300 car companies Politis owns across the country and the US just happens to sponsor Canberra Raiders forward John Bateman.

Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Hodgo will be playing, no doubt about it. Be interesting to see if Havili is on the bench though, just between you and me smashed hat, he has a Steve Jackson try in him the way he bounces off tacklers.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.
Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews
I absolutely love Simonson, but with the sambraros carrying verrils and friend, a 4 forward bench could be big for us.

Ben Cummins is a massive Raiders supporter, little secret from a friend who made his way into NRL ref ranks and was a linesman.

Ata Mariota’s #1 fan. Bless his cotton socks.

Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews
I'd actually have Havili in front of Lui now. Havili can easily play a middle forward role if Hodgo plays 80 minutes, and unfortunately for Lui, errors have started to creep into his game.
I'd also carry Simonsson, Guler and Horsburgh on the bench.

In a 1 on 1 comparison I've got Lui still ahead of Havili as his defense is better.
In a team context Havili provides a difference in attack with his offloading and some utility. I'm still sticking with the guy that's got the job done so far.

All aboard the Raiders bandwagon
All aboard! There’s plenty more room on the Raiders bandwagon!
If you’re unsure on who to support this Sunday, here are ten reasons as to why you should support the Green Machine.

I do, except for the fact that if something happens to Hodgo (touch wood), we NEED Havili. It could be the difference between winning a grand final and losing. You don't get next week.

We're not winning if Hodgo goes down.
Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Yeah exactly. I think Ricky is past having a reserve hooker on the bench. Still Havili may play for general utility value.

I think Ben is one of the better refs. He doesn't take BS from players from Smith and usually let the game flow.Coastalraider wrote: ↑October 1, 2019, 2:28 pmI think he tries to hard sometimes to NOT look like s Raiders supporter.

Re: 2019 Grand Final V Roosters: Teams and Previews
Given recent events my bench is:
14. Simonsson
15. Havili
16. Horsburgh
17. Lui
This covers for every potential scenario.
Havili runs just as hard as a prop and can play in the middle.
Papa will be playing big minutes again and Tapine can extend too.
We only need two genuine props on the bench. Guler only gets 10 minutes stints anyway it's not like he's crucial to our success.
I feel like if we're to beat the Roosters we need to throw it around a bit and Havili's offloads will help.

Would be hard to take for Sutton I reckon - IMO he's been very good for most of the year. Not having Havili there does cause a few flutters also, given what nearly happened to Hodgson on the weekend.
Hodgo aside, they've got it all over us in the spine. Gould is being a bit of a dick to us, but he was right last night to say that we had little in our attack and can't rely on opposition mistakes to score. Apart from that, it's fairly even in the forwards and backs, give or take.
We're underdogs and rightly so, but that probably suits us.
