I remember when Owen Craigie gave us a bath one day playing for Souths at Five Eight.

To be fair though Owen Craigie was an absolute gun. His problem was he was still a good player whilst overweight and never put in and got preoperly fit.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Most of those players gave plenty of teams grief over the years.

I think Matt Prior qualifies - his performance in that 2016 qualifying final where he totally dominated our pack in particular.

On a more positive note, what about dominant players who have been ordinary against us?

Hmm he’s not a hugely dominant player but I feel like Croker has always contained James Roberts fairly well

Hence why he was average for those reasons you listed.

In the spirit of this weekends match, Jake Granville is someone who always gives us a hard time despite being ordinary.

I have this impression we released him from our squad back when we are all set with Hodgo and Baptiste and then he tore us up that same year...

Josh Chudleigh, man TW, that's a good memory you've got there...being used to recall terrible moments in our history.

Yeah, what the hell happened to him? Tore us a new one and then disappeared!

I work with a guy who is close to the Chudleigh family
He was not doing his best work in Canberra, apparently he and his dad thought it was best for him to be out of Canberra and away from distractions.. Almost went to Melbourne but thought with Smith there the better option was the Cowboys

Once he got up there he was tearing up their QLD Cup team, MOTM every other game, but he was dogged with injuries. A lot of them ill timed, where he was on the cusp of NRL footy... finally got a start, killed us, and shortly after i believe did another ACL. Last i heard he was still up in QLD playing for the blackhawks, dont think he has an NRL contract though

Yeah, just looked him up. Seems he did his ACL a couple of times. Tough gig to come back from that at his age.

I played with Chud’s old man. Back in the day. He was a good footballer too. May have been from Boorowa if my memory serves me right.

I believe the young fella didn’t mind a drink or two.

He was not ordinary but gee Vunivalu looked like the greatest winger to ever play the game when he came up against Canberra. He scored tries for fun against the club.

Boy, Matt Bowen making that list as an "ordinary" player is totally **** ridiculous.

There's actually quite a lot of Origin/Test players on that "ordinary" list.

Fifteen out of the seventeen of the London Broncos side that won in 1997 were definitely ordinary.

This thread needs more Ben Pomeroy.

And yes a lot of the players listed here were actually very good players, but wow we made some of them look like Immortals. Inglis and Benji come to mind. Or any player on debut against us. Or RTS lately.
Ata Mariota’s #1 fan. Bless his cotton socks.

Nope. One of the most under rated forwards of the NRL era imo.

I remember at his peak of owning us, the Fox Sports guys put up a graphic about players who had scored the most tries against the raiders
#1 was inglis and #2 was Simmons who had just jotted down for his second of the game

For context, David Simmons had 103 tries in 200 games, roughly 1 try every 2 games
Against the Raiders he's 16 tries in 16 games....

Also re: Misi Taulapapa

He played 38 games as a winger and remarkably only scored 7 tries, which is an objectively miserable strike rate
He scored 3 of them against us in a single. He only played us twice and i have memories of him carving us up in the game he didnt score

Vunivalu, which was a name mentioned earlier and not worthy of this thread, but by contrast has 87 tries in 112 games, and 8 tries in 10 games against us... so he does score plenty against us, but it's almost bang on in line with his career strike rate

Raiders fans remember Misi Taulapapa for one thing.....and that's not his try scoring prowess.
