Yeah exactly that's what I'm getting at it feels like when the team plays away they get into that siege mentality and there's no complacency.
of course it is years of inconsistent performances that make me feel just a little wary, but we have been a lot better this year. I just feel like the weight of expectation when they play at home is something they are still getting comfortable with

Manly trouble us.
They niggle and get under our skin, making us fluster and lose composure.
Plus, DCE just has a field day pointing Turbo at our lazy/slow defenders.
This promises to be a cracker. Both teams use the us against them mentality, and neither will back down.
Here we have the 2 teams looking to oust the Big 2 from their pedastals.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Agree.
Our away form this year has been exceptional.
I almost don't care if we don't finish top 2.
I hope someone reminds the boys of what Des Hasler said a few weeks ago - where he basically ruled us out of winning the comp this year.
I'd love nothing more than to stuff it to Manly on Sunday.

Manly have impressed me this year. If they show up to play like they did against Melbourne a couple of weeks ago, we'll have to be at our best to beat them.
I know a lot of focus has been put on how tough our run is/has been from rounds 21-24, but IMO our sustained stint in the top four has meant that every game for weeks now has been vital. Every week is a 'danger game' or 'so important to consolidate our position' or 'one that we'd no doubt lose last year'. I've been pleasantly surprised at our resilience and attitude all year, and these things beget confidence and good performance.
The 'Green Machine' isn't just a nickname anymore. For the first time in decades I think we're delivering the type of performances that gave us that moniker in the first place, and I can't wait to see where this all ends.
Real danger game this weekend. Let's send Manly packing!

I Would love to know the amount of offloads manly have had against us the last 3 or 4 games, taupau in particular. The second phase play normally leads to a fast play the ball, turbo and Evans kill us when on the front foot. If we can limit manlys offload, we win this one 12+

Snags bleed green as butcher celebrates the sizzling Green Machine
You can tell the Canberra Raiders are having a sniff come finals time when you see green sausages being sold at Lindbeck’s Butchery in Queanbeyan. And they're back in 2019.
“I remember on the 1989 grand final, we tried to close the shop at midday but we couldn’t close the shop till 3 pm because people had lined up all the way up Cooma Street. I have never seen anything like it in the 40 years I have been a butcher.

Looking at the competition as whole there doesn't seem to be any real difference between home and away form other than Sharks and Tigers. Most teams H&A records reflect their overall position within a game or two.Azza wrote: ↑August 21, 2019, 12:53 pm Yeah exactly that's what I'm getting at it feels like when the team plays away they get into that siege mentality and there's no complacency.

Canberra Raiders celebrate three-year Viking clap anniversary
Almost 20,000 people jumped to their feet on a cold Canberra afternoon and started a trend that has redefined lime green passion. The Raiders celebrated their Viking clap anniversary on Wednesday, marking three years since introducing the pre-match build up for a clash against Parramatta in 2016.
Sia Soliola has now started a trend of meeting travelling fans after winning away games and being the man to beat the drum while supporters raise their arms in triumph.

Your spot on, it's the reason I have enjoyed watching manly play this year. Teams that play unstructured, with strike across the park, are always dangerous and fun to watch. I still can't stand the manly club let's make that clear. I guess they play a little bit like the raiders the last few years, just with more offloads.zim wrote: ↑August 21, 2019, 3:30 pmAgree but it's not just us. Financial bonus adds spice to Canberra Raiders top-four charge
The lure of a major financial boost will give the Canberra Raiders extra incentive to secure a top-four berth for just the second time in 15 years.
The Raiders pocketed almost $500,000 when they hosted two finals three years ago after a surge in support, increased ticket sales and sponsorship bonuses.

Hoping that the fact we are playing a team featuring the Turbos, DCE, Dylan Walker, Tapau and AFB means there is no way we lapse into complacency.
Also the fact that they completely embarrassed us at home last year.

Canberra Raiders five eighth Jack Wighton adamant hype won't derail Green Machine
It’s the million-dollar question for Canberra fans: are the Raiders the real deal in 2019?
"There have been a lot of critics. When times get tough they love to give it to us, but when we’re winning they like to say we’re the real deal," jack Wighton said. "So we know we can’t let the outside noise affect us. We’ve got to focus on our job and not get distracted.

Plus this game is probably more important than the one against Melbourne. Given they are a big threat to our ladder position its one of those 4 point turnaround ones.
The 3 weeks in a row playing the other top 4 sides. Our biggest risk of let down comes against the Sharks.

Pffft... He'd be wearing it purely in solidarity between trainings just to make a school kid feel better who was feeling embarrassed that they broke their leg before they had to go address the whole school assembly next week. Or some such.

CNK is already married!? This is more devastating than the initial moonboot rumour!
Re: 2019 Rd 23 V Sea Eagles: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I thought part of his charm was he always mentioned his partner and her importance in making and adjusting to the big move and changes in his life in his interviews unsure of married or not though officially). My wife noted that after she heard him credit her support in multiple interviews- she put him in the good egg category early on.gangrenous wrote: ↑August 22, 2019, 10:12 pm CNK is already married!? Re: 2019 Rd 23 V Sea Eagles: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
He seems to have young kids too and his priority is his family, based on the interviews. He’s an impressive young bloke from all I’ve read.
Re: 2019 Rd 23 V Sea Eagles: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
yeah that's been a big take away from me, he's had a tough life growing up with his mum and he seems really focused on being the best husband and father he can be.
I know the club is absolutely in love with him as a human. The guy i spoke too reckons if he's still around he'll be in the captain conversation when Croker and Hodgson have moved on
