If Klok is injured:
1. Bailey Simonsson
2. Michael Oldfield
3. Jarrod Croker
4. John Bateman
5. Jordan Rapana
6. Jack Wighton
7. Aidan Sezer
8. Josh Papalii

11. Joseph Tapine
12. Elliot Whitehead
13. Hudson Young
14. Siliva Havili
15. Emre Guler
16. Corey Horsburgh
17. Sia Soliola
Otherwise Guler just drops out for Young.
I thought about Williams to 6 and Wighton to the centres. Also Wighton to fullback and Williams to 6.
That Cotric suspension and Kris injury, and Leilua injury is really making things awkward. I am worried that Bateman isn't quite fast enough to defend at centre.... this squad will change before tuesday

Kikau facing a 1 game ban if pleads guilty to shoulder charge.
That will help but Penrith still dangerous.

In any case, agree the Panthers are dangerous with or without him now.
A win here does our confidence a world of good. Almost certainly cements a top 4 spot.

I spoke to him yesterday and he said he expected to do a few weeks through Mounties on his return. He seemed really down to earth about it too, prepared to just rip in and work hard to get back to firsts-TW- wrote:Should be, but you'd think he would come back via Mounties

I think he comes straight into the side. Its the benefit of a player coming back from a suspension. They still train but also get the chance to freshen up and get that hunger goingThe Rickman wrote: ↑July 21, 2019, 11:10 amI spoke to him yesterday and he said he expected to do a few weeks through Mounties on his return. Interesting coup of weeks coming up. Travel to Penrith then 5 day back up in Auckland. Does the team treat it like a mini tour and head straight to Auckland from Sydney?
After that it's 9 days to the home game vs Roosters so plenty of recovery time there.

I’m concerned about this game. After an average performance against the Tigers and the Panthers on a roll. Their attack is asking a lot of questions, which we have traditionally struggled to defend.
Re: 2019 Rd 19 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
To be fair, Guler has shown the least out of our rookies this year in terms of ability to come in and not just survive but make an impact on a game. He may well have a lot more development left (I think he does) but he's not demanding selection or showing he can get over the top of an opposing pack.
I think Hors has a lot of tidying up to do but I've seen him make big runs, put forwards right on their ass with a hit and throw a sneaky offload. In a bench player I can see why he'd want Hors with that package or Young ripping in. Sia does the hard yards, steady stuff very nicely for us.

Re: 2019 Rd 19 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
Same team as last week unless BJ is back, with the exception of I really want to see Bateman back at lock already. He doesn't get enough involvement stuck to one side of the field.
Plus the middle of the field is where we have been a bit weak in defence.

Canberra Raiders a Sterling NRL title threat
They're fourth on the NRL ladder, they're the second best defence in the competition and now four-time premiers
hip hero Peter Sterling says the Canberra Raiders are a threat in the 2019 title race.
"I wouldn't want to be playing them," Peter Sterling said. "They're a really consistent football side that has a lot of talent there. A guy like Simonsson has come in and done a great job. They're a threat."

Re: 2019 Rd 19 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
Massive game in the context of the season.
I think the two teams that are probably the best chance of catching us are Manly and Penrith. I simply don’t see Parra being good enough and Newcastle are looking pretty cooked.
Penrith 4 points behind. We get a win next Sunday and they have to make up three games and points differential. Probably then comes down to five for the top 4.

Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad hopes Canberra Raiders can make NRL statement
The thing Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad would fear most if he had indeed broken his leg, like he thought, was he would not be "a part of every second" of the Canberra Raiders' run to the NRL finals.
"We're building something special here, and I want to be a part of every second, every moment. I pray to God that I don't get any serious injuries this year," Nicoll-Klokstad said.

All the talk is about the Panthers winning run. Puts more pressure on them than us. I'm hoping we get to burst their bubble.

Early betting has both teams equal at 1.90. Be interesting to see where the money goes through the week.

Re: 2019 Rd 19 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
I know Penrith get a 9 day turn around but we get an 8 day turn around so in the words of GE 'No Excuses' for our match next Sunday. Given we have a 5 day turn around for the following match against the Warriors in NZ I would expect it will be a 'light load' for the Raiders at training for this week. Plenty of rehab with a light run on Wednesday/Thursday, travel to Sydney on Friday, Captains run on Saturday. Match day Sunday and then I understand a flight to NZ. I think the squad against the Tigers will be picked with the possible addition of Hudson Young and Sam Williams to go to NZ as cover.
Re: 2019 Rd 19 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
This will be a tough game, no questions
The panthers are tremendously talented across the 1-17 and their ladder position right now is not a reflection on their talent. But i dont know where they stack up defensively but the eye test tells me this is a team you can score on. No reason why we cant win the game.
Sunday arvo, at Penny park, with them in the middle of a huge winning streak, that's going to be a tough environment. But i think we'll be ok.

Re: 2019 Rd 19 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
go to Sydney for a 4pm game on a Sunday to return to Canberra to go to Auckland for a 6pm Friday night Game followed by 2 weeks of the toughest opponents in the League....... expect to see the likes of Young, Cotric, BJ, Kris, Sutton, JJ, Guler in the mix for the next 4 games, and expecting some players to be rested or early knock offs.
Re: 2019 Rd 19 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
pretty sure they will from sydney straight to nz. but yep. resting players will be necessary... sure ricky is aware of it.

Re: 2019 Rd 19 V Panthers: Teams and Previews
Panthers have won something like 8 in a row, feels like a loss is on the way
We looked a bit flat Saturday, and reckon that was a bit to do with the night before and the build up with all the old guys in town.
The game in wagga was physical and there was a fair bit of bad blood , am expecting Bateman and co be up for a full on game.
on a side note, can i strongly suggest anyone coming out to the game to pre book their tickets early, panthers going strong and coming up to finals it is likely to sell out
