They've only put the one try on us - not happy - but have to doff my hat for our defense

Our structure and attack way off this half. Frustrating. Our goal line defence is amazing relative to previous seasons though. We've stuck in fantastically well given they've gone ok and our attack has stunk

78th min They say a try for the Tigers... it is surely no try. It’s a pass off the ground. Player tackled! NO TRY! Penalty Raiders.

Credit to the boys here. Pure grit this half. We would've collapsed in a heap if this was 2017 or 2018

Canberra Raiders 20 defeated Wests Tigers 12

Early burst enough as Raiders hold on to deny Wests Tigers

The Canberra Raiders have made it five wins from their past six matches with a hard-fought 20-12 win over Wests Tigers at GIO Stadium on Saturday night.

With 15 members of the club's 1989 premiership side watching on, the Raiders charged out of the blocks with tries to Dunamis Lui and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad inside the first nine minutes.

Really worried what this game has cost us with CNK getting smashed.

Really shouldn’t have had him under so much pressure all night. Poor game, at least they got the 2 points!

Phew!!!
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Totally!

Even in 2016, we needed to outscore teams. To win on defense for this team is huge!

Proud of the win.
Lots to work on...which should keep us honest against the Panthers.

Yep the effort has been extremely satisfying to watch. The boys weren't quite on in a few areas tonight, and that happens in a season, but it's exactly that grit that separates the top teams from the rest come the end.

That was a very stressful win. We would have gotten thrashed last year with the pressure the Tigers put on us.

Average in game control and attack.

But incredible defence especially the last 10 minutes.

Plenty to work on but it's so refreshing to see us not leak 30 points a game.

Also our props were immense. Thought Sia and Lui had maybe their best games of the year and Papa had a blinder.

If there is such thing as a deflating win, that was it.

There was a genuine opportunity to really punish the Tigers and we let it slip with impatience and unforced errors. It also meant we meekly surrendered third place on the ladder.

While it is always good to get the 2 points, this afternoon's matches highlighted the gorge that still exists between us and a genuine premiership team like the Chooks.

I don't get this mentality of defending leads and not going for the jugular when we had the chance....makes no sense at all when you have momentum to just take the foot off the throat and coast through

Had a feeling all week we were in for a tough game.

Tigers were playing for their season, whereas the Dragons were shot.

Glad we roughed it out the way we did because last season we lose that game.
Also keeps us grounded for the Panthers match.

We haven’t done anything yet this year and I hope Ricky is reinforcing this message.

Take the 2 points and roll on.
Hopefully CNK is ok...he was in the wars today.

Mission accomplished - 2 competition points. Fabulous defence by the Raiders in particular late in the match by JC and Sezer. I think that's the best team defence I've seen from the Raiders in a long time. Keen to get to the Tigers ball carrier.

I think that's the best game I've seen Sezer play for the Raiders. He had his head up and looked where the defenders where for the Gruber for the CNK try and again for the wide pass for Rapa's try. Fine halfback attacking play.

Papa and CNK were immense.

Disappointing really

Put the cue in the rack at 20-0 and tried to defend the way home
