I think these type of games are great tests as to where we are at. Euphoric win away last week, lots of press etc, coming up against a clear bogey team for us at home over several years. Have we improved to handle newspaper talk/expectation etc or are we still developing?
Don’t undersestimate though Ennis’ value for us this week. If anyone knows the secrets to beating them consistently it’s him, and he will have a fair bit of input this week I’d suggest.
Also, the Flanagan factor. For whatever reason (personal etc) he loved beating Ricky and us and despite his putrid and unprofessional behaviour as their coach (hence his downfall) as a coach of men he got the grubby and tough best out of a lot of players who would be marginal first graders at other clubs.
So like I said, I think a good test for us as to where we are at and what we are building towards this year.

We’ve got this, bruh
Love it The Rickman :woot: Will be tough but have so much confidence in this team now, whoever is half back :roflmao

It has been a very astute move from the club to being Ennis in to the coaching ranks. Due to his role with fox sports he is a strong advocate of the club and can provide more personal insights to the players that what the raiders have had in the media for a long time.

Whether or not his role is having a big impact on the players and for the record, I think it is, there is so much value in other areas it would be a win without it. Hopefully his input gets us across the line on Thursday.

Canberra Raiders half Aidan Sezer puts toughest period behind him

It's been the toughest period of Aidan Sezer's career and he credits his wife Raziye for being the rock that's helped him get through it.

"It was good. It's been a really tough period in my life and career," Sezer said. "To ice the win like that with a bit of an intercept and to see the boys come over the top was one of my most satisfying moments of my career, and I don't say that lightly.

Drought breaking season this 1. We hadn't beaten the broncs at home in 6 years. We did that. The Benji/Farah curse over us, we broke that. Haven't beaten the sharks at home in a regular season game since 2011 so why not do that as well?

I'd expect Paps to see limited game time this week. It will be his 3rd game in 8 days coming off a couple of massive efforts. We'll need a bit extra from Sia, Lui and Guler.

Beyond that its a very quiet period coming up for the Raiders. Only one game vs Eels over the following month. The guys should empty the tank in this game.

I don't know that Papa will be able to contain himself NR. He will be facing Gallen and Fifita and I reckon the competitive alpha male within him will mean he wants to come out on top of them. I think he will certainly want to match Gallen given their history.

Fifita is a different matter though. The team has to be aware of his offload ability and have one player lock up the arm carrying the ball and another around the knees to stop his post contact momentum. This is where the loss of HorsPower and Young will hurt. Both are aggressive and competitive who would have revelled in this contest.

Sticky situation: Recalled Canberra Raiders half Aidan Sezer keen to keep tight grip on jersey

For those wanting to know, things are just fine between Raiders halfback Aidan Sezer and coach Ricky Stuart.

"Me and Sticky are good mates. We talk a lot," Sezer said. "Look, Sammy has been playing good footy and that's all it was. He was playing so well that I just had to wait for my opportunity. I know how football works. It's a results-driven business, so when the boys were getting the results, the team stayed the same.

I hadn’t realised Dugan still played football.

I look forward to seeing another top class display of faking effort by wincing after every tackle.

King of the Bogans Dugan had his best game this year against Parra this week, expecting him to try a little to hard against us and produce a few crucial errors that we all know he is good for

Yeah we don't really have a regular one as we've always done everything as a family. My wife and I went to a party back in January and that was the first time we've had a babysitter. My wife is okay for a family lunch on Saturday to celebrate though.

Canberra Raiders prop Ryan Sutton plays follow the leader with idol Josh Papalii

He's already made a big impression in his first 13 weeks in the NRL but Canberra forward Ryan Sutton knows the standards expected of a world-class middle just by observing one of his team-mates.

"That's the standard I want to get to, he's a real idol of mine at the moment because he does the little things you don't really see," Sutton said.
