I like Oldfield just for the energy and effectiveness of his rucking out. He was hurtling into the line vs Dogs (and NQLD) and really bending them and almost smashing right through once or twice. Without huge metre eater boppers who can get 10m runs even if our set is stagnant then we really rely on a powerful back 5 to get our sets going. Oldie does that on the regular. His post contact metres are huge and his play the ball is very, very quick as a result of him winning those collisions when he crashes into the line.

I like Simonsson, he looks likely. He gets involved. He doesn't stuff up. But he has had a few goes and not actually done much of note yet. I think he CAN, I suspect there's a good player in the making but he's not there yet or just not shown it yet.

So I won't be too upset whichever one is picked but without Beej rampaging around making yards for us, I think we need Oldie.

I'm assuming Starling will still play. He got around 20 mins last week which suggests Havili is not close to being able to do the full 80. If it was only 10 mins or so I'd say Simmonnsen could just do to or share it around but for 20 mins, you need a real hooker I think and Starling didn't let anyone down.

I didn’t say 14, I said 17. The same as what they attempted to do last time Rapana got injured. It’s a real shame too, as it was an intriguing idea.

We had an 80 min hooker last time though. With havs at 9 i think it thins us out in the prop rotation this week with papa backing up and younghorse out. I think an extra middle for this game is the correct play
Ahhh, you're probably right actually. Havili could play as a middle forward, Starling can't.

Yeah, probably won't work.

I just think you’d lack too much up the guts with Papalii backing up tbh.

I think the idea is worth a shot once Hodgo is back though... when is that, this week??
Haha, given our current rate...

Maybe after the bye?

Clearly Stuart sees something in Simonnsen in training or the way he carves Mounties up at FB that he wants to get on the park vs tired defences so I wouldn't be surprised if he tries it again later in the year.

Unless it really was just cover because we went into that game with 3 outside backs under big injury clouds (Kloks knee, Oldies groin and I think it was Rapa's rib at that stage).

He isn't in the top 30 still. The NRL have been quite strict on letting those players play if there are first graders who have been selected in that position in the past.

Meet the NRL's scariest right edge: Jordan Rapana set to make Canberra Raiders return

Jordan Rapana's return from injury will see two of the NRL's most potent strike weapons join forces on Canberra's right edge. Sia Soliola concedes however, it'll be difficult for Josh Papalii to back up after Origin.

"The hardest one will probably be Papa, because he is in the middle and right in the heat of things," Sia Soliola said. "We'll probably have to check on him, but Jack and Nick, this is their first time so they will be buzzing. They'll have a lot of energy coming after this camp because this is a really great experience for them.

Sezer didn't play a halves role on the weekend, nor did he do anything to keep his place. That's consistent with every single game he's played in green bar maybe 5-10 max.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

He didn’t do much but certain didn’t bring the stink like ya boi did on the weekend. And as he has done for all bar 5-10 games max in unfathomably long career
