I’ve said this so many times now... centres let in the most tries because they defend against second rowers, centres and wingers, generally the most attacking players in any team. They’re gonna let in tries, they ALL **** do it.

It just really bugs me that every time he lets a try in we want the guy sacked.

This gets back to my earlier point... just because a small handful of people say something... "the forum" or "we" are not saying the same thing. The forum is just a social media platform which allows individuals to express their views and opinions.

Is that the forum’s official view on this topic?

It is my position... and in this case, I'm also expressing it on behalf of the administration of the forum. :)

Imagine having the 2nd best defensive record in the comp and wanting to drop your captain because you concede some points on the edges.

It is by far one of the oddest discussions within this forum over the years.

Croker can clearly hold his own or beat his opposite centre 9 times out of every 10 games, but the once or twice a year his opposite gets the better of him there's a bunch of people out there ready to jump on him and punt him to the wing, or reggies.

I've found in life that some people make a judgement about someone and will use every opportunity to make their point, despite whatever evidence there is to the contrary. That's just human nature.

Is Jarrod Croker the best centre in the NRL? Probably not. Is he better than 80% of them out there? The eye test suggests to me he probably is. He is almost the clubs leading try scorer and is already our highest point scorer of all time. I've also seen him shut down rep centres over his career numerous times.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but the hammering this guy gets, despite consistently being one of our best players over a decade, astounds me.

I think it's just a case of him not being able to shrug off the schooling he got off McDougall and his struggles with Hurrell.

It's not just some Raiders supporters that feel this way, the edge is the most difficult position to defend and as is with halves they will at times get found out.

He is a quality centre with experience, we are in a good place if we're whinging about this.

Yep, he has been haunted by a few games against Konrad Hurrell his entire career. Jamie Lyon early on too.

Yet I've seen him totally own the likes of Gasnier, Chambers, Hodges and Roberts over the years and yet that isn't taken into consideration.

It's incredibly weird. Croker is a bloody good centre.

That’s the thing
Everyone bangs on about Hurrell and there was no doubt Hurrell gave Croker plenty of trouble, and yeah Jamie Lyon too
There was very bad game early in his career against a 34 year old Maddog MacDougall

But he absolutely stuffed Jamal Idris into his own **** every time they played, he gives Gagai a hiding every time they played the knights, he gave Hodges the business more times than not... this **** ain’t one way traffic, he gives as good as he gets

Oh yeah, he certainly gives it to Gagai more often than not. On that basis alone he should be playing Origin.

Forgot about Idris too. **** me he owned him.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Take a rest, bud.

Scrapping a game by 2 points when we're winning 20 up doesn't give you the keys to self-righteousness.

He made a bad read on the Morris try. That was on him. Outside of that he was very good tonight. A lot of attack sent that way and he did his job.

So... you have a problem with Croker now too?

I mean, you’re clearly one of the most agenda driven posters on this forum, so that’s all I can assume

Ricky summed it up perfectly in the press conference. Everybody likes to talk about the tries he lets in, but nobody talks about the two tries he saved tonight nor the try saved last weekend, let alone the fact that he won the game tonight on his goal kicking... It's absurd that people even have the nerve to criticise him tonight after his spectacular performance!! Our right side was in fact giving up far more metres tonight...
