The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.
Jarrod Croker calls for his senior Canberra Raiders to cover crisis
Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker has called on his senior players to stand up in the face of a State of Origin and injury crisis.
"We need to stand up. That's myself included, [I've] probably been a bit quiet," Croker said. "I'll be talking to a few senior players and making sure they're right and they're leading from the front on Saturday.
The forgotten man hoping to lead a Canberra Raiders resurrection
Now he’s back in first grade, Aidan Sezer wants to be the spark to reignite the Raiders’ season after just one win in their last five.
"It’s been very challenging to say the least but I’ve still been enjoying my footy with the Mounties," Sezer said. "I’ve been around for a while now; I’m not a young fella anymore so I think I can draw on that experience and hopefully get a good result and play well."

This team reminds of the Tigers last year. Went hard early in defence in the first 6 weeks then ran out of puff pretty quickly.
Except the Tigers actually beat decent teams like Storm and Roosters
If only Cotric through that last pass vs the Roosters or Croker against Souths we would be more upbeat.
This game is a must win but I have visions of 2017 when we were expected to smash them and we got dominated by Adam Elliott, Tolman and Hopoate.
They lost Reynolds and Graham early in the game and we still lost. Even last year at Belmore was a fluke.
Hope they turn up with a different attitude.
Bateman was always playing. You don't miss a NRL game with a bit of a sore eye if you're as tough as him. Soon as I saw him in the 21 I expected him to play. In to the centres for Kris my guess.

sweet! I wonder who'll drop out
Guler out, young to bench?
Would be my guess. I think we’ll put Bateman on the edge though to shield him from the brunt of the middle work and copping a head cash with a rampaging front rower. Tapine into starting lock for me.

I think Kris will stay. Ricky was carrying an outside back on the bench not long ago. If he does play centre I think kris moves to the bench with guler dropping out.
Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart: John Bateman will play against the Canterbury Bulldogs
Raiders Coach Ricky Stuart has revealed this morning that England international John Bateman will play during Saturday night's match against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium - and will start the match.
Will be interesting to see where he lines up. I could see him in the centres with Kris dropping out. We need to keep that 2nd hooker on the bench. Havili would find it tough to go the full 80.
Or if you're completely fine with Bateman playing in the forwards Tapine drops to the bench and Bateman can spell Havili at some point instead of Starling.
Gee it would be a waste to play him at centre. Kris is marking Montoya so that shouldn’t cost us imo. Bateman has to come straight into the back row, either at second row or lock imo.

Bateman at hooker? Can't see that happening. Nor should it.
Canberra Raiders John Bateman bolts back from UK for early return against Dogs
Canberra have received a massive boost for their clash with the Bulldogs, with star back-rower John Bateman named to return early from a surgically repaired cheekbone.
"Fortunately for us he's cleared to play. He's been a really big boost to the club ever since he got here, his energy and enthusiasm around the team and around training, it's a great lift to the guys.
Canberra Raiders star John Bateman has been cleared to play
The Canberra Raiders have been given a massive boost with star import John Bateman cleared to make an early return from injury.
Bateman was declared fit by a specialist on Thursday which will see him suit up for the Raiders against the Canterbury Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium on Saturday.
Newcastle coach Nathan Brown backs Tom Starling to swoop at his Canberra Raiders opportunity
"His heart's as big as his body." Tom Starling might be small in stature, but his former coach Nathan Brown says the Canberra Raiders debutant's commitment and courage won't let his teammates down.
At 170 centimetres tall, he's the equal shortest player in the NRL - alongside Brisbane rake James Segeyaro, although Segeyaro has a four-kilogram advantage with his 86kg frame.

Nah. Bateman to play in his best position. Tapine or Whitehead to Lock.
Tapine and Whitehead will be our second rowers for this game
All 3 can play at lock and have done so before. Bateman was killing it at #11, can’t think of a reason why his position should change to cater for any other player in the team.
