John Bateman reportedly back two weeks earlier than expected

Post by greeneyed »

@9_Moley on Twitter

John Bateman has revealed in England that he will be back on deck for @RaidersCanberra v @WestsTigers - much earlier than expected.

That is two weeks earlier than expected.

Not surprised, he looked as good as gold a couple of weeks ago in a couple of pics I saw on Twitter, must have had a good surgeon, it must have only been a week or two post surgery but you wouldn’t have known he’d had anything done, must be keyhole I assume? Still would have expected some scarring etc

Man, we need to win these next two games and no more injuries and we look locked and loaded again. Cotric staying healthy will be really important.

It will have no relevance whatsoever to the outcome for the tigers game. We all know that if Benji plays we lose

I’m starting to wonder if our medical staff are REALLY that good or whether they just exaggerate every injury in the first place

Yeah that's a fair point, id imagine most clubs are giving the high side estimate of an injury to help manage the expectations of fans.

All I know is that in every other job if you continually beat your estimates by weeks to months then your boss eventually tells you to start revising your estimates haha

Me three!

Anyway, I always have mixed feelings about these announcements. On the one hand, yay, Bateman's back! On the other, eeeh, please don't be rushing back so you get more hurt.

For all that the early comebacks mostly help us, I vividly recall Sezer rushing back from his injury late last year, taking the intercept, and only being able to run about 20m in clear visible pain and desperately looking for someone to pass to before just slumping to the ground in agony.

Although in this case, “the boss” probably doesn’t want to do that. It’s the long game smokescreen

Please. You and I both know old Donny Boy probably thinks a KPI is a nasty rap artist that the Harold Mat's boys are all listening to. If that bloke pulled you into the office to ask you to provide honest estimates to your stakeholders you'd be the Dalai Lama if you left that office without being terminated
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.

I think it's more likely the medical staff are giving the correct estimates to the club, then the club whack on an extra 25% time frame onto that when giving estimates to the fans.

I recommend people to follow NRL PHYSIO for injury explanations, estimates and updates.

You see, it's exactly that kind of behaviour that has people call him unprofessional. He's just had a major neck operation, and I really don't think he should be riding a huge shark 12,000ft above a city right now, especially without headgear.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
