Raiders' NSW Origin players
I thought it would be interesting to see the list, so I put this together.
Number Player Year Debut Club
68 John Ferguson 1985 Game 1 Sydney Roosters
87 Bradley Clyde 1989 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
88 Laurie Daley 1989 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
93 Glenn Lazarus 1989 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
102 Ricky Stuart 1990 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
118 Jason Croker 1993 Game 2 Canberra Raiders
123 Brett Mullins 1994 Game 2 Canberra Raiders
125 Ken Nagas 1994 Game 2 Canberra Raiders
137 David Furner 1996 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
157 Ben Kennedy 1999 Game 2 Canberra Raiders
188 Ryan O'Hara 2004 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
214 Joel Monaghan 2008 Game 3 Canberra Raiders
216 Terry Campese 2009 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
227 Tom Learoyd-Lahrs 2009 Game 3 Canberra Raiders
235 Josh Dugan 2011 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
247 Blake Ferguson 2013 Game 1 Canberra Raiders
Slim pickings lately with only 6 players in the last 20 years, and only a few games between them.

Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
It's hard to make an argument for many other players over that period. I'd say only Campo was harshly done by relative to a lot of other halves.
Still, I think some clubs have produced a lot more players without producing much more on the field.

Played for Roosters in '85 when he first played Origin? Then played a couple more when at the Raiders.

Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
I thought nadruku would have played origin.
Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
Hmmm I wonder if he was considered?
IIRC for some reason NSW would perpetually pick Wishart, the slowest winger I've ever seen. It was inexplicable throughout the 90s.
I can't recall who played on the other wing?

Tim Brasher maybe? Noa was a Fijian international I thought in the days before both states tried to claim anyone they could.
Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
Yeah that's why I wondered whether he was considered or not. It was about when Adrian Lam came in for QLD that all the poaching and weirdness came in.Billy Walker wrote: ↑May 21, 2019, 4:51 pmTim Brasher maybe? Brasher would definitely have been on the wing for a while in the 90s. Probably a series at FB too somewhere for Brasher. Mullins...

Ken Nagas certainly got a run on the wing for a while.BadnMean wrote: ↑May 21, 2019, 5:08 pmYeah that's why I wondered whether he was considered or not. So on these two lists the only established rep stars we signed who then went on to play further Origin games are Jackson, Meninga and Chicka Ferguson.
Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
Ahhh, the old Steelers days, Wishart was a very good winger, knew how to finish, had speed and was tough, met him a couple of times, nice guy.
Told me he didnt enjoy playing for the merged club as much as the Steelers.

Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
Didnt Todd Carney play Origin?
Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
He was rubbish NSW finally dumped him after he'd been put in the clear and was run down by a prop.
Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
Yeah, I had a look at these stats a year or so ago. We are the only club not to sign an incumbent Origin player since the NRL started. I quickly updated them for this year.Roger Kenworthy wrote: ↑May 21, 2019, 5:27 pm So on these two lists the only established rep stars we signed who then went on to play further Origin games are Jackson, Meninga and Chicka Ferguson.
Brett White is the closest but even he got dropped for game 3 just before we signed him and realistically we only got him because the Storm got done cheating.

Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
The lack of reps at the Tigers is amazing. Imagine us if we won a Premiership and still only had 5 players in Origin over 20 years haha.edwahu wrote: ↑May 21, 2019, 6:13 pmYeah, I had a look at these stats a year or so ago. Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
Worst part for the Tigers is they have a billionaire supporter who could literally buy the NRL.

Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
When he was at the Sharks, not the Raiders.
Chicka was first selected while at the Roosters but also played games while at the Raiders.

Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
Why isn’t David Barnhill on the list?
Re: Raiders' NSW Origin players
Left us in 91 and didn't play Origin until 94
