Canberra Raiders rewarded with representative honours

Re: Cotric, Wighton, Papalii selected for Origin
If Cotric gets dropped, it will be in keeping with the tradition that the few times a Raider ever gets selected for NSW, they get scape-goated after 1 game, ala Campese, Dugan, Ferguson, O'Hara.
The only chance of a Raider getting back in the NSW team (or getting selected at all) seems to be to go to another club, ala Dugan, Ferguson, Carney, Vaughan, Weyman, Cross, Finch, etc.

I had a dream last night that the squad list was released and Wighton was dropped for Asiata.
Im a little concerned that I actually had a dream about origin team lists....

Brandy just confirmed on Fox that Jack will hold his position for game 2 and is in contention to be starting in 6.

Re: Cotric, Wighton, Papalii selected for Origin
I dont think Jack is in the top few 6s in club land, but I think he is ideally suited to play off someone like Pearce. He is built for the hard fast game of Origin, flashy guys get left behind.
He also suits the straight and fast game based off the Cook /Tedesco running style, much more than more traditional halves that play laterally.
He won’t get the 6, but his stint in game one showed why his style is suited.
In fact, I’d say Walker is actually more suited to the 14 as well.

With Australia SOS'ing Marsh's for their world cup side, it's only fitting NSW SOS Mitchell Pearce.

Canberra Raiders fullback Jack Wighton only has Sunday on his Origin mind
Revelling in the Canberra Raiders' success is all that's on Jack Wighton's mind. He'll leave worrying about State of Origin until Brad Fittler names his NSW Blues team on Sunday.
"I just take it as it comes. I'm just thinking about enjoying the win at the minute," Wighton said. "I'm just enjoying this win and if it comes it comes. I'll be stoked if I get picked and if not that's the way the game works."

Re: Cotric, Wighton, Papalii selected for Origin
Picking Mitchell Pearce is so New South Wales it isn't even funny. The guy forced 1 repeat set in his 18 Origins. A single repeat set. All this talk of "but he was playing against a great Queensland side" - the fact is, New South Wales were often in positions to shut games out in that streak but couldn't come up with the right plays. Throughout those years, the New South Wales forward pack consistently put them in a position to win. Pearce has shown again and again that he is not suited at that level - the Roosters moved him on for his inability in clutch games. Even if he comes out and has a man of the match performance, at this stage, with the information we have, it is a horrible choice to put him in at Origin again. It's not as if the years he got picked his form was crap in normal club games - he was often playing well for the Roosters during the season, and would be the worst player on the pitch when selected for Origin despite his club form. I am tempted to support Queensland for the first time in my life as this just really beggars belief.
Re: Cotric, Wighton, Papalii selected for Origin
Safiti making Origin will be more ridiculous than Pearce. It's off the back of about 3 good games.

It’s off the back of punching a Burgess in the face and being in the news, Safiti would be a horrible selection.

Re: Cotric, Wighton, Papalii selected for Origin
Yeah, announced on the footy show that Pearce is injured and unavailable for selection. Cork and Hip problems.
So NSW selections have to cover injuries to Klemmer, Haas and Cotric which have ruled them out.
The easiest for me will be Turbo Tom in for Nic. If Turbo gets through todays game fit, then I think he plays in Perth. Then he needs two middles. I would go with James Tamou - a big body - to replace Klemmer and Dale Finucane for Haas. On NRL stats both are in the top 15 for post contact meters. If Freddy is looking to set a platform then those are the type of players he can do it with.

Tamou is nearly as marshmallow a forward as Aaron Woods.
And no I don't know what the answer is, but not frickin' Tamou. Surely there's someone better than that.

Sounds like Mitchell will get dropped. Could be an opening for Wighton there.
