Nico won't let anyone down either at centre or wing. Origin won't phase him.
With Jack, I don't know. He's in a purple patch, but I fear if things go wrong he could be massively scapegoated.

Decided not to write this in my emotional disappointment yesterday but alas, still holds true after I've calmed down from the loss. The claim that Croker should play origin is laughable. While he has always been good in attack, his defensive positioning is next to none. And I mean that in a very bad way. He is such an obvious weakness for opposition to target. With Cotric moving into the centres, I fear teams will now continually target that side.
Re: Canberra Raiders Origin chances
I think Croker is a good guy, great captain. But to claim he is Origin calibre is laughable. He has been a consistently average defender for years, but that was masked because we had Austin on the other side of the field for teams to target.pacman wrote: ↑May 26, 2019, 1:47 pm Decided not to write this in my emotional disappointment yesterday but alas, still holds true after I've calmed down from the loss. He is solid enough for first grade, but he would be cut to ribbons at that level, he does not have the body type for Origin - skinny 10m, gang tackling, no penalties - you need to be build like Wighton/Jack Bird to be a chance, particularly as Centres usually take the tackle 2 hitup.

We've seen both Cotric and Fergo audition for that right centre spot. After the Eels game on Thursday night all Cotric had to do was not **** his bed yesterday.

Fergo’s the best winger in the comp, so I’m guessing he has been blacklisted.Northern Raider wrote: ↑May 26, 2019, 3:01 pm We've seen both Cotric and Fergo audition for that right centre spot. After the Eels game on Thursday night all Cotric had to do was not **** his bed yesterday.
Re: Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton selected for NSW Blues
Big congrats to both of them. Moments like this make you so happy to be a dedicated supporter, having watched both come through the under 20s.
Hopefully Wighton’s role is simple - run and tackle hard for 20 minutes and leave it all out on the field. Go the boys!

Fergo went out on the turps before the game last time he was in camp and ended up on sexual assault charges didn't he?
Then threw a hissy fit and wouldn't come to FIttler's origin birthday party when he did get invited back (or whatever that meet and greet was).
Then drops 5 passes on the weekend because he was looking at the defenders coming for his sore ribs and not watching the ball.
I don't think he mounted that strong of a case.

I'm super happy for both of them, it's well-deserved. I hope they don't make Jack ride the pine for 80 minutes.

Nah the sexual assault charge was years before. Never should have been considered after that.BadnMean wrote: ↑May 26, 2019, 6:21 pm Fergo went out on the turps before the game last time he was in camp and ended up on sexual assault charges didn't he?

When was the last time the blues had 2 Raiders players?
Re: Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton selected for NSW Blues
We had Campo, TLL and Monnas play in 2009, surely two of them overlapped? But i dont remember that they did, so maybe they didnt?
Good trivia question!

Mona's and TLL in 2010 I think.

Canberra Raiders Jack Wighton and Nick Cotric earn NSW Blues selection
Jack Wighton and Nick Cotric have been named in Brad Fittler's Blues side for game one against the Queensland Maroons at Suncorp Stadium on June 5.
"Jacko has stepped up over the past couple of years, especially this year. The five-eighth role is something different to him, but he has taken it with both hands," Cotric said.

Well deserved for both these guys. Will be interesting to see how they use Wighton.
Re: Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton selected for NSW Blues
That is crazy. He's probably getting around in a zimmer frame.
He had as much talent as any. Just didnt have a body that could hold up to such a physical game.

Re: Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton selected for NSW Blues
I’m really glad these guys got selected. Great pay off for the hard work they have put in this year and the previous years and makes the weekend loss a little easier to stomach.
All three of our origin players are Raiders juniors? That’s awesome for the club.
Fingers crossed they have a great game, come through in-injured and take a lot out of playing at that level.

Re: Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton selected for NSW Blues
Tbh I think Cotric is a tad lucky. Don't think his form on the wing was great, he looks a far better centre than winger. Not overly rapt with Wighton on the bench either, we lose him next week and he'll probably get 3 mins at the end.

Re: Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton selected for NSW Blues
Im pretty rapped we have rep recognition this yr even if we lose them for a couple of games. Feel a bit sorry for leilua, surely he would have been picked if fit.
Re: Nick Cotric and Jack Wighton selected for NSW Blues
I think they will.
Jack when he backs himself and is confident is terrifying to any opposition.
And for Cotric, I think this is just the right push he needed right now in his career to go to the next level as a player.
Good for them, Cotric earned it with two excellent years and some solid work this year + his great attitude and professionalism (when the rival is Fergo) + his ability to just take higher grades and big games in his stride will have been noted.
Jack has been on another level this year and is twice the footy player in any department of the game and any position than say a Tyrone Peachy. If you pick a utility someone who can be genuinely good at any backline position including a kicking half + has the size and physicality for backrower is a pretty good combo.
Good for the club too. Big game experience has been a bit lacking in past years. Might help with a few refs calls here and there too- though unconscious bias of course
