I can't see how the Sam Williams situation is in any way comparable to the Croker discussion. If Pigman is allegedly saying the 100% opposite of what he is saying in the Croker thread, does that mean you think he should be arguing that we should sack Croker to take a punt on some kid or find a back up centre to replace him? Because that makes no sense whatsoever.Billy Walker wrote: ↑July 24, 2019, 5:00 pmI don’t disagree with you here Piggy, but I will point out this sensible approach you have spelt out here is 100% the opposite of what you are saying on the Croker thread where you insist we can’t even question JC unless we can identify a better ready made replacement. I know your position on JC and let’s not go over old ground on this thread - just saying I prefer the approach you’ve proposed here.PigRickman wrote: ↑July 22, 2019, 8:29 pmNo idea. Don't really watch Mounties. But that's irrelevant to me. Sam Williams cant cut it as a regular FG half. We need to move on, the fan base needs to move on. Take a punt on some kid, or find some other back up half who's as capable as a spot starter as Sam Williams (of which there are many btw) and just get away from this.papabear wrote: ↑July 22, 2019, 8:23 pmhas hingano been better then williams.PigRickman wrote: ↑July 22, 2019, 8:07 pm Feels like overkill to keep both Hingano and Williams.
I'd like to get away from Williams, a lot the fan base has a weird fettish for him. The moment George has a bad game or if he doesnt start off as well as we'd hope, those cowards will be calling for Sam to get his 857th crack at FG.
We need to move on from him IMO and replace him with Hingano or some other decent back up.
Whoever that is. I dont want Sam Williams OR Aiden Sezer here next year. I want this job to be George's and i really dont want to be coming to the GH if George starts off slowly and going through another Sam Williams fiasco.

Hahaha this is an outstanding comparison by Billy here. Truly fantastic stuff.

bring me up to speed, did he just compare our backup halfback and our captain? The Rickman wrote:Hahaha this is an outstanding comparison by Billy here. Truly fantastic stuff.

Billy... we know your position too. Comparing the two situations is ridiculous. Jarrod Croker is easily in the top eight centres in the competition.

Yeah let’s not do the JC argument here it’s too tiring. The point I am making is that unless you’re the roosters you can’t generally recruit a ready made established upgrade option. Piggy suggestion of rolling the dice on a recruit is the way to go. CNK is the perfect example of a second string player at the warriors who we gave a chance and look at him go!!! For every CNK there will be a good number of Charlie Gubbs that maybe don’t work out as well but you have to keep rolling the dice. I’m not convinced too many here would have agreed Bateman and Sutton were destined to be upgrades for Boyd and Paulo 12 months ago but I’m betting nobody would swap them now. The point I’m making is that more often than not you do have to roll the dice rather than wait till a unanimously agreed upgrade becomes available.

This approach to a back up halfback has absolutely zero to do with a current club captain and top 10 player at his position. We're talking about a back up half, vs a starting centre and club captain
Second,
Never once have i said you cant question JC's position unless you have a better ready made replacement. In fact my posts on the matter make it clear that JC's position, like all, should be questioned and it's that you and others who want to move him are simply failing miserable to appreciate the totality of what that player brings on and off the park.
Thirdly,
Your ability to comprhend when it comes to JC appear to woefully lacking. Resubmit
Re: Canberra Raiders looking to re-sign Jordan Rapana
That's not quite true. The majority of posters on this forum wanted Boyd and Paulo (and Austin) dropped to Mounties for a lot of the season last year. Gubb was a plodder before and after he signed. CNK was only being kept out of the Warriors team because of a red hot back three there. He was itching for an opportunity and has obviously worked bloody hard on his game. Sutton was relatively unknown, Bateman less so. Sure there were questions over whether they would go as well as they have but most were happy to see the back of Boyd and Paulo.Billy Walker wrote:Yeah let’s not do the JC argument here it’s too tiring. Fox saying an announcement likely as early as this week.
Exceptionally happy if we have managed to keep him, over the moon if we have retained for less than originally offered.

Probably been able to offer him what he wanted with Sezer being moved on

I think it's probably more likely he realised the market was softer than he thought and the options were to move to the Goldy and get lapped every week, or take a little less and stay where he is.

Any further news on Jordan? Seems to have gone pretty quiet.

You’d be crazy to throw away a premiership chance for the sake of money.
Plenty of footballers who left their long term team before winning a comp spend a lifetime in retirement wondering ‘what if’.
Money is important in a short career, but memories last longer than money.
