Re: 2019 Rd 10 V Rabbitohs: Teams and Previews
It is a tough decision. Guler doesn't have the 'off the ball' work ethic that you need for a small minute bench forward and his defence isn't yet at FG standard. Hunt has similar issues.
Assuming Collins is unable to play, I think there is merit to giving Kris the same role Simonsson had against the Roosters.
Re: 2019 Rd 10 V Rabbitohs: Teams and Previews
Kris looked a fair way off in the trials and he hasn't stood out at Mounties from what I have read and watched in the highlights. I'd be surprised if he gets selected.

My tip, Tapine is named, and given til game day to prove his fitness.
If he doesnt play its Kris vs Guler

I thought Tapine wasn't due back until round 17 or something?

Actually, last wk my tip was 'outside chance', as per the players comment. I may have added some reference to on extended bench. The Rickman wrote: ↑May 14, 2019, 9:49 amThat was your tip last week too, palMatt wrote:My tip, Tapine is named, and given til game day to prove his fitness.

Hodgson has made a similar comment on 360 last night.

@Nickman,
Better yet, I found the post I made in here, Im not looking through the GM Podcast messenger thread.
@Brew, glad to hear Tapine is a chance.
@Canberra Milk, thats fantastic news about Rapa.
Ill be honest, i liked the rotation policy. However, giving players 1wk seems odd. The 3-4wks seemed right to me.
As for the team....
The Whitehead shuffle to defend against the Panthers best backrower was a good move. Tougher call this wk, as Cordner and Crichton are both studs. However, given the Chooks left side is better than their right, I think Whitehead defends on the right this wk.
As for filling Bateos shoes, if Tapine is fit, and it needs to be 110% with his injury history of late, then thats a massive plus. He should not be named if he isnt 110%. Otherwise, its Young. He has earnt it. Going by Stuarts comments in the presser, thats the way he will go. It also means Murchie to the bench as the last standing backrower. How'd have thought our backrow stocks would be tested this yr?
Sia and Papa are middles now, their lateral movements are not good enough AND more importantly, we are too light on in the middle to lose them to an edge.
I hope we have Leipana back this wk. I worry about Oldie and Simmonsons ability to withstand what the Chooks left edge will throw at them. IMO, id go Oldie if BJ is out, but stick with Simmonson if Rapa is.
I made the call a couple of wks ago, but i think we stop the Chooks in magic round.

Woodgers wrote: ↑May 5, 2019, 9:07 am I would be aiming for the least disruption possible. We want the same middle rotations that have been winning us games to give us the best chance against the benchmark. Sia leads that energy at the first interchange, I wouldn’t want to mess with that.
Agree with Whitehead on the right so the best option for me is Murchie on the left as he’s the next best 2nd row option with familiarity of edge defence. We just need him to do a defensive job on Crichton, we don’t need a whale of a game from him.
I’d go Oldfield on the right wing. Nothing against BS but I think we’ll need the size and height against Mitchell and Tupou (particularly for the cross kicks).
I’ve watched a fair bit of the Roosters lately and they are definitely the benchmark but they’re not outside our capabilities. In fairness they should have been beaten on Anzac Day and even though Tigers was a blowout, the Roosters didn’t get away from them until about 60 minutes and much of the play before that to get points was Latrell (or Keary) individual brilliance rather than them turning it on. I think they’re currently vulnerable if we turn up hungry. I guess what I’m saying in a roundabout way is they’re the best side in the comp but the past fortnight haven’t been near their peak performance so we’re a reasonable shot on Sunday.
I really like these 2 posts guys. I agree.RedRaider wrote: ↑May 5, 2019, 3:13 pm I agree with those who say 'replace like for like'. A backrow forward is out and so we use a backrow forward as a replacement. Murchie for me. It will be interesting to see how the side does back up. The good news is that, like the Roosters, we get an 8 day turn around. While they are missing their hooker, we are missing 3 Internationals, two backrowers and a winger.
Hopefully BJ will be ready to go next Sunday.

If Stuart was to carry a back on the bench I reckon it would be Sezer/Hingano, not Kris.

Croker said if it weren't for the Rapana injury, Bailey would've come on in the middle to run past tired players. I don't think Kris will be that player for us.

Re: 2019 Rd 10 V Rabbitohs: Teams and Previews
With BJ out for the season, I hope the Ricky is considering moving Cotric to right centre to see how he goes.
He's clearly a right sided player- you can tell by the way he fends and carries the ball that he prefers to hold the ball in his right hand. Have Oldy on the right wing outside him so he has some good experience and chat (and they can swap during the game if need be), and push Simmonson to the left wing outside Croker.
Give it 3-4 weeks until Rapana comes back, and if its not working then push Cotric back to left wing and Oldy to right centre. Its a question of when, not if, that Cotric will move in field from the wing. I think with BJ out for the year its gives us a great opportunity to look at that option now.

I've been disappointed with our performances against the real contenders, we were out of both games against the Storm and the Roosters within the first 30 minutes and that trend needs to stop this week.

A bit tongue in cheek, however rather prevalent Imo. This game could be down to 3 against 17, much like last week.

Yes great call. Cotric may come up rocks or diamonds in the centres, but I think he is a natural right side player. He will make some mistakes I'm sure, but a good position to be in with a few wins under our best to do this, rather than desperation.Braddrew wrote: ↑May 14, 2019, 1:14 pm With BJ out for the season, I hope the Ricky is considering moving Cotric to right centre to see how he goes.

Give it 3-4 weeks until Rapana comes back, and if its not working then push Cotric back to left wing and Oldy to right centre. Its a question of when, not if, that Cotric will move in field from the wing. I think with BJ out for the year its gives us a great opportunity to look at that option now.

I'm very happy with that team. Oldfield is much more suited to the wing, Cotric should be good at centre.

Re: 2019 Rd 10 V Rabbitohs: Teams and Previews
That's just very short-sighted. He's difficult to bring down, has an offload, a step, can make metres in traffic and is active in defence. Give him some more fitness and experience to improve that decision making and he'll be great. The Rickman wrote: ↑May 14, 2019, 3:58 pmI honestly don't see what the fuss is over Horsburgh... is it the red hair? It is how the Rabbitohs announced it... but George Burgess should be in the No. 8.Finchy wrote: ↑May 14, 2019, 4:12 pmGood to see when Junior Tatola gets tired, he can interchange with himself...greeneyed wrote: ↑May 14, 2019, 3:25 pm South Sydney Rabbitohs

Like I've said repeatedly, people see something in him that I haven't seen yet. I haven't seen anything resembling this yet.zim wrote: ↑May 14, 2019, 4:30 pmThat's just very short-sighted.
