Yeah, Croker also mentioned it post-game. The reason for Simonsson on the bench last week WASN’T as injury cover for the outside backs (which is quite frankly a stupid idea), but instead he was supposed to come on for the last 20, replacing a forward and roam around the ruck like DCE used to do for Queensland.

Unfortunately, Rapana got injured so he had to cover him. It’s a real shame too, as I think it would’ve really worked against the tired Roosters

If I'm being honest I could actually see Havili having as much impact in that same sort of way. When he first came into the side his strength was those quick darts out of dummy half that really got the team on a roll. I know Hodgson at dummy half is the right call but I wouldn't complain if Havili occasionally snuck in there and took a quick scoot. He was able to pick his moments fairly well before.

I really don’t think Havili has the same impact as an international rugby 7s player coming off the bench in the 60th minute against tired forwards

I love Havili, but they’re like chalk and cheese. Not even remotely comparable

Could Ricky be using Seb Kris in the pack?

I hope not. That doesn’t make sense

It seems to be a specific role handpicked for Simonsson because of his rugby 7s background and explosiveness. I think it’s a really good ploy, but I’m unsure of its effectiveness if he’s already played 60min on the wing

Saying that though, he should be still pretty fresh compared to the tired forwards up the middle

They're very thorough with their sports science and fitness testing these days, they'd know if his cardio and speed endurance was up to it or not.

I'm attacking in the right way, instead of just...attacking in the general direction. - Max Aaron (also eerily apropos for the Green Machine)
