We still don’t have the hard edge required against top teams.

So true. No team throws a tantrum quite like the Raiders.

It is a crusher but tupou clearly puts himself in the position to milk the penalty. He hits the ground then lifts his head to get it under oldie.

Whitehead needs to shake the refs hand at half time and see how powerful his injury curse really is. Maybe his spleen might explode or something

This refereeing is a joke. We’re getting penalties on 2nd tackle for nothing bad from Roosters and then nothing for some clear hold downs or not square at marker. Then we’re also getting nit picked for soft penalties.

The refs are amazingly inconsistent and hurting the game as a spectacle.

Actually the rule says it needs to be unnecessary pressure applied by the player. Hard to see how that was unnecessary given there was no intent.

Well, good refereeing or not, the number of penalties is ruining the game.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

36th min Daniel Tupou caught awkwardly in a tackle from Oldfield. No illegality in the tackle just unfortunate. Even though the referee blew a penalty against the Raiders. He’s being taken off by the medicab. He won’t be back. Roosters down to one bench player.

I hate blaming refs. But some of these penalties have been horrid today. That last Wighton one was for not clearing the ruck quick enough. On the next play Whitehead used 2 hands on the chest to hold down the man for what seemed like twice as long as the Wighton one.
