Elliott Whitehead

Post by papabear »

Had a bit of a Lui start but he’s grown on me.

Really grown on me, I don’t know about the stats but his defence and his strips are big time. Literally an absolute gun. Honestly I like him pretty much more then any other backrower maybe even more then kikau.

Lately I would have him right up there in terms of performance and best players on our side.

Keep up the work whitehead!!! You have a fan in me.

Pretty sure there aren’t many Raiders supporters that don’t rate him extremely highly. An absolute stud, and has been since he got here. As is his best mate J Bateman

To have Whitehead and J. Bateman as our 2nd rowers is a gift.

Love him, i think he's one the best in the game. I think we need to be running a lot of our red zone attack through him because although i think Bateman is probably a more talented player, in the red zone he's a little Raps/Beej in that he's a ltitle helta skelta and adlib and a lot time when you need something, he'll create it... But as a base package of plays, Whitehead is just a really good edge hole runner who is excellent and we should go to him a lot.

Consistently makes big plays in attack and defence. Underrated hole runner and great with ball in hand.

I can't believe he's not the goto for high attacking kicks near the line.

He used to score stacks of tries for Bradford and Catalan collecting the balls up high.

all the more reason for me to give him a wrap.

He has been excellent for the last month and for most of his career here.

I like to think I am very positive on positive performances and his perfomances certainly deserve a big kudos. He is one of the rare players that if he has an off day I dont think to much of it because I think so highly of him these days.

In modern sport, Whitehead is a great poster child for professionalism. It would be an insulting to call him a grinder (he’s more skilful than that), but his high work ethic is there to see every time he steps on the field. It looks like he’s a man who takes his job very seriously and takes pride in his performance. Especially in this modern age where you have entitled young athletes caring more about their Instagram follower numbers than their performance.

I was critical of a couple of his early performances but I’m now glad we’ve got him at the club.

I've been saying for years that I wouldn't swap Whitehead for any other backrower in the competition, and I firmly stand by that.

I don't think he's lost too many skins of "Pigman is a ****" in his time either, although probably still loses Matt's Matchups to guys like Adam Blair and Kevin Proctor.

At the start of this season, Whitehead and Cotric were being mentioned as being down on confidence and not playing to their standard.

I'm going to put it down to him being tired from having to translate Bateman for the media at the start of the season.

Cotric is pretty much back to his best as well.

His performance yesterday was for the ages. When Batty went off he shifted sides to mark Kikau. He put two massive hits on Yeo and Kikau and both are busted custard. Plus, that setup for wighton's try was quality.
He's a machine. Form is temporary and class is permanent. Eased into the season but he's firing now.

How good is EW ?

He does a mountain of work that goes unnoticed and gets through heaps of work.

His support play on that left edge with Wighton and Croker is just brilliant.

Right up there among the best back rowers in game and has recently extended his stay..

Love ya work EW..and nice scooter btw.

At the end of the game when the ball took a crazy bounce it was Whitehead there to clean up the scraps. There were players closer to the ball but he reacted first and wanted it most. He's done some amazing things this season, maybe not as flashy as previous years but just as valuable.

The pass he held up perfectly to put Croker over for a try was a great example of what he brings to the team in attack and he has to be one of the best defensive second rowers in the game.

He's vastly underrated by the wider community, but i don't think any raiders fan would swap him for anyone.

He's definitely one of my favorite ever raiders.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Tough as nails; remember that Penrith game at Mudgee where his animal defence was breaking Penrith hearts and bodies everywhere.
Doesn’t miss games; rarely makes mistakes; sets up others and makes them look good; turns up everywhere all the time as Mr on the spot; is the person most responsible for getting John Effing Bateman to come to the Berra; boss accent.
Love him.

Many NRL fans would probably say Boyd Cordner is the best second rower in the game. I think our two Pom second rowers are both better than him.

I wouldn't trade either of them for a single other forward in the comp.

You can throw Josh Papalii in there too.

it's always EW every time there's a loose ball or a covering tackle or a tough line to be run you know he's your guy. Great hands, good speed, workhorse.
My footy loving mates are starting to notice just how good he is.

He was great even in his very first game in that diabolical heat against Penrith at Bruce. The only bloke on another team that comes close might actually be Josh Jackson.

except his hits are hard, he busts tackles, passes and is a genuinely excellent footballer, josh Jackson tackles wouldn't bruise a grape and I doubt he's got more than 2 tackle busts his entire career
