Re: 2019 Rd 8 V Panthers: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
How's that for accountability? Little tough on Murchie I thought given the reshuffling required but Horse and Young reaping the rewards for good performances.
1 try-assist, 172m, 4 offloads and 34 tackles from Horsburgh. Highest metres and tackles in the team for the forwards. 69mins played.
3 tries, 1 line-break, 5 tackle-breaks, 137m, 3 offloads, 22 tackles from Young.
1 try, 1 try-assist, 1 line-break, 1 line-break assist, 2 tackle-breaks, 206m, 1 offload from Simonsson.
Horse vs RCG is going to be a grubby cracker. Let's hope he keeps his cool.

Bailey Simonsson named to replace Jordan Rapana for Canberra Raiders' NRL clash
Canberra Raiders winger Jordan Rapana (ribs) faces two to three weeks on the sideline, with rookie Bailey Simonsson named as his replacement for the clash with the Penrith Panthers this Saturday.
"Bailey Simonsson did a really good job for us when he played in round one. We're lucky to have that sort of depth, and we did speak about it after Bailey's debut, that we know if called upon, he can do a job," half Sam Williams said.

Thought Guler did enough to warrant another run. Stick continuing to rotate the bench forwards.

Glad Rapana isn't too serious an injury.
Interesting that Guler and Murchie are cycled straight back out- a reaction to the loss or the longer minutes they played due to Rapana's injury?
Crunch game here. Penrif will be desperate and have some quality players with a point to prove.

Glad to see the Horse and Young back in. Along with Simonsson they have been in 3-4 TOTW each in the NSW Cup. Will be interesting to see how Simonsson has progress since round one.
Horse should also add a lot of the mongrel that was missing last week (we need to stop the offloads!)

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Because stick can't look past how well Simonsson is playing:
9 Tries
4 Try Assists
8 Line Breaks
23 tackle breaks
173.2 Average running metres
Can't wait to see him get another crack at first grade!

That, plus the fact Oldfield has only had one and a half games this year since coming back from a groin injury.

He'll need to keep his temper under better control though... he was was baited a few times by the Sea Eagles in NSW Cup... and he bit back. And it cost in penalties.

Canberra Raiders look to snap run of regional NRL losses
The Canberra Raiders are on a three game losing streak at country venues, including one of the club's worst ever losses at Bathurst - against this week's opponents, the Penrith Panthers.
"It's a different year, we've got different players here, so we've definitely got the belief we can go to Wagga and beat them," Elliott Whitehead says. "We'll just focus on this week and not think about the last couple of years. I've never been, but people say it's a nice place so I'm excited to get up there and visit somewhere new.

Re: 2019 Rd 8 V Panthers: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I’ve been genuinely trying to enjoy watching Canberra play this season. The last decade has been hard as a hardcore Canberra fan. Campese’s knees into Milford wanting out and then the last 2 seasons following 16’ has been real nightmare stuff for committed fans. The last 2 seasons genuinely had me not enjoying Canberra games. I’d watch it but dread the outcome rather than be excited by a possible great win or great play. This year is a bit different in I think there are more struggling clubs atm too.
With that in mind I’m really excited to watch Simonsson play on Saturday. I was very critical of his promotion and I’m a subscriber to wingers being as or more likely to cost you a game as win you one. But from the Mounties highlights he looks a really, really exciting prospect. So many outside back backups over the last few years (besides Cotric) have really looked absolute fill ins but this guys highlights are exciting and his debut was pretty bloody solid. He’s no Rapana but I won’t be on his case and I’m keen to see what he can do if he gets a bit of space because the kid can seriously motor.
This game has a bad feel about it. Penrith are absolutely stinging for a win and I thought they looked much better last week. We’ve taken a game to Wagga and that’s not good either but I’m keen to watch what the players bounce back with and will enjoy watching it.

well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.
Re: 2019 Rd 8 V Panthers: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
I might be more excited if we were playing at home. This is a game we members have paid for but have been denied. We might be playing to build our our “fortress” in front of a big crowd ... but no. Instead, we’ve vacated the city to AFL and Union.julian87 wrote: ↑April 30, 2019, 10:57 pm I’ve been genuinely trying to enjoy watching Canberra play this season. And guess where the Panthers would be preferring to play?
It’s very poor form from the Raiders. The Raiders have treated their own members very poorly.
