Croker's kicking

Post by raidersmalt »

It's not good enough....

He's missing some he could have kicked in his sleep last year. I think he's kicking in the low 60% range....

I know he's got the runs on the board over his career, but we're lucky his misses haven't cost us any games.

If he continues his current form I think we should look at someone else.

Harsh I know, but I think fair.

Nah, he's earned right to kick his way into form.
The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

I do get what you're saying though. It's a bit if a concern as he's usually so good

Why is this even a thread

He's coming off a dislocated knee, so his confidence is probably a bit down

But yeah feel free to boot the leading point scorer for the club

I think it needs to be monitored tbh. Because he’s not just missing a lot of close ones he has genuine kicked really, really poorly all season.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Im a long way off considering this. To me it's almost a bonus to see us winning when he's down on form with the boot, he's a career 80% kicker going at 67% percent right now
He'll retire as the game's greatest point scorer

Im a data guy, the lows now just mean highs coming later. It's fine.

His dislocated knee may explain it, but maybe someone else should kick until it comes good.

If he kicked better, we would have won comfortably today.

It could lose us a match in the future.

If it was last season I might be inclined to agree. But firstly, he’s got the runs on the board and I have no doubt he’ll come good. Secondly this year’s attitude to defend your mistakes no matter what, gives me more confidence that even if he misses a kick, the boys will rally together and make sure it doesn’t bite us.

Croker's the kicker until he's not in the team anymore. And I'm very pleased with that.

Yep, still 81% career form, and we are winning. Case closed.

I get it, it's frustrating. A few things about the team are a touch frustrating, but we've got a chance to win our way through it.
Like i said, kicking is one of those things that ebbs and flows... i remember about 18 months ago it felt like he was kicking at 90%... the highs and the lows come and go quickly and at the end of the day he wind ups back where he belongs

He's a 80% kicker and if he's going at 67% you know the other side of that coin is coming to balance it out for an 80% kicker

Jarrod Croker is in the top five goal kickers in 2019... I don't understand why there's even a thread.

Croker's kicking

The kick from the try he sets up from the sideline bounces off the upright into the goal instead of bouncing away and this wouldn’t be a thread

Trivia, I played a 2nd grade rugby game when I was 17, kicked 2/7 and won us the game with the last kick. This team has been winning and still has another gear to step up. Any hooo, Croker is still out kicker.

He's at 66 per cent this year so far. That is no doubt lower than he'd like, because he's an 80 per cent kicker. But we're six rounds in.

Absolutely not. I can’t fathom what this forum would be like in that world.

He makes those two kicks, we’re leading the comp. Send him to Mounties and let Bateman kick. I’m sure he’d do an amazing job

Croker is out of form with the boot by his own high standards. Thing is he can't get back in form if he's not kicking. You don't take duties away from somebody with such a solid track record unless you're desperate. We're not.

22nd? In a 16-team comp? And he's AHEAD of Masters, Martin, Lafai, Taylor, and another Martin?? How many goal kickers are there???

This. The only way to get a kicker back in form is to let him kick. He's not going to get his form back kicking practice goals at training. He'll get it back by taking kicks with 17,000 screaming fans riding the outcome.

It's hardly a problem. We're still winning the games and yes today was closer than we'd like but our defence held on. Show faith in him, show faith in our attack, and let's let him get on with it. I'm sure in another round or two he'll be back to his fabulous best, we'll be 7-1 and this thread can be dragged up for a laugh.

Something is wrong with his form this season. Not sure if it's the kneecap thing, but he's stabbing at the ball and his follow-through sucks.

I hope the club has arranged for Halligan to come back in and do a few sessions with him. It's certainly not 100% right.

I agree mate, he looks amazingly tense when he is at the tee.

If he kicks at 80%, we lead the comp for the first time since 2005. I really wanted that yesterday.
