Give him a week if needed. Key will be if playing risks making the injury worse or slow recovery. If thats the case then take the cautious path as its a long season ahead.

Power Rankings: Canberra Raiders move into third
3. Canberra Raiders (4)
I don't know what's in the Canberra milk down there but they were outstanding again and are building nicely. They defend really hard for each other, they grind away and complete sets. Sam Williams has been a revelation after not starting earlier in the year and takes the pressure off Jack Wighton. The English contingent has been outstanding and John Bateman is my favourite player to watch.

I wouldn't be upset for Simonsson to get a run and for CNK to rest this week.

I’m liking our forward depth at the moment. I think Ricky is doing a good job using places 16 and 17 in the side to rotate blokes through. Keeps the side fresh and blokes familiar with the NRL set up and pace when/if we need more than a couple of them

Congrats to Murchie and Guler.
Who replaces CNK if they decide to give him a rest? You can make a very good argument for Sezer or Simonsson.

It’s a tough one. If you bring in Simonsen then you will have to move Rapana to Fullback and play Simonsen at wing.Green eyed Mick wrote:Congrats to Murchie and Guler.

If you bring in Sezer it’s a good opportunity for him, a good opportunity for Jack to give the mind a couple of weeks break by dropping back to a position he is comfortable in. My only concern with this is the combination between Sezer and Williams as I can see them both trying to overplay their hand to be selected when CNK returns.

You've got to give credit to Ricky for the way he is rotating that bench with young blokes. Our depth, and the quality of that depth is going to improve by giving them all a taste, and healthy competition to prove themselves.
Re: 2019 Rd 7 V Sea Eagles: Teams and Previews *Teams p1*
Congratulations to the young blokes. I think the non selection of Young is more due to his limited recent game time, rather than his performance.
On a related matter, if the NRL is looking to increase the fatigue level of players then a good way to do that is to only have 2 on the interchange bench.

I actually like this rotation of the younger guys that aren't playing big minutes, creates hunger.

It’s definitely a big move away from his selection process in the past, and it’s good to see them not warming the pine for 80mins in tight games but actually coming on during games when it counts.Beejay wrote:You've got to give credit to Ricky for the way he is rotating that bench with young blokes. Ricky Stuart names fresh faces for Canberra Raiders' NRL clash with Manly Sea Eagles
Ricky Stuart has called on his young brigade of forwards to stand up once more with another pair of fresh faces set to line up for the first team this season.
Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad went for scans on Monday after his knee bent the wrong way in a collision, but they were more for "peace of mind" than anything else. Nicoll-Klokstad is confident he will be fit to take his place in the side.

I mean Seriously, we cant be threatened by this. But in saying that this is a backline we would lose against last 2 years, I believe Raiders will win but not expecting a Thrashing.

I don't think Wighton is moved either. Now he's made the shift he stays there.
Maybe if something happens during a match he'll head back there but I'd expect one of Rappa or Cotric to fill the position for a game or 2 if needed.
If there was a long term injury (8 weeks) it would be interesting to see what way they go.

Canberra Raiders skipper Jarrod Croker reveals reasons behind Joey Leilua’s new-found maturity
Canberra skipper Jarrod Croker says the high-flying NRL side is reaping the rewards of centre Joey Leilua learning to play with controlled aggression.
“BJ has been great, he’s been really good, it’s a credit to him and the way he trained and applied himself in the pre-season,” Croker said. “It’s probably easier when you’ve won a few games to control that aggression and a lot of it was just frustration last season.

Canberra Raiders brace for major NRL test says Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad
A stunning start to the season has left the Canberra Raiders faithful gazing at stars but Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad says the next month will be their biggest test.
"Just be proud of what we're doing and where we've come, but acknowledge we've got a big month of footy coming up for us, and don't look too far ahead of ourselves," Nicoll-Klokstad said.

Can’t agree with people saying they’d be ok with losing this game. I certainly hope he team and the coaching staff are accepting of nothing less than a win.
Best start to the season in years and still playing well below our potential in attack and defence.
We have put some huge efforts in but a lot of that has been the result of pressure we have put on ourselves through stupid mistakes at critical times. If we can cut those out then we make it own job easier.
Manly certainly know how to scrap and this will not be an easy game but if we are serious about being considered a contender this year these are the kind of games we need to find a way to win. We need our halves to control the tempo of the game so that it suits us. If our forwards are tired there’s nothing wrong with finding touch and having a breather but when we have them on the rack we have to keep the ball in play. Be patient, look for repeat sets. It worked so well against the eels and then we forgot about it.
We have a week to prepare for this and need to make sure we bring the energy in the first 20, especially in defence, to get on top of this game. We can and should win this game regardless of what has happened in the last few weeks.

Stunning stats turnaround that proves Canberra Raiders 'Faders' tag is dead
Fox Sports Lab statistics from the opening six rounds of 2019 prove Canberra has fixed the club’s biggest issue. At this point last season Canberra was equal third worst in the competition for points scored in the final 20 minutes of games, and equal fifth worst for points conceded in that same period.
Twelve months on and the Raiders are the best team in the NRL in the final 20 minutes. They have conceded the least points (14) while scoring 49 points in the final 20 minutes, which is the best record of all this season.

There’s a few posts in this thread. I wasn’t devastated when we lost to the storm it showed us where we were at and they are a benchmark team. I also won’t be in tears if we lose a close one to the chooks. They’re an awesome team. Manly aren’t anywhere near that caliber and we should be filthy if we lose to them!greeneyed wrote:Who's saying they'd be OK with losing the game? I will never be OK with losing a game. Never.
