Not only did he win the Green Machine's very first title, but he was the first to sign up to buy a foundation stone as well. A cool 25 large for the honour of having his family remembered at their spiritual home. He owns eight McDonalds franchises in north Brisbane... so that helps to cover it!
"I purchased a foundation stone I think they call it. Basically as a recognition of my family and their commitment to my career," Coyne said. "Both my kids were born in Canberra."

Canberra Raiders showing glimpses of Green Machine of old
Steve Renouf
This is the best Canberra Raiders team I have seen for a long, long time. I’m not sure if they can repeat what that fabulous 1994 side achieved 25 years ago but I look at them and they are playing the way their coach Ricky Stuart did himself, with a lot of skill and an ultra-competitive edge.

Funny that he singles out CNK and Bateman as great contributors. That happens often with Stuart - players come in and kill it, and then taper off a bit.
Hopefully we can reach our potential this year. I firmly believe we have the talent to win the comp. The last two seasons just showed how **** we can be if the attitude is ordinary.

Canberra Raiders prop Ryan Sutton not a 15-minute man
Ryan Sutton didn't come to Canberra to play 15 minutes. He wants to eke out every minute he can.
"I've said it the whole time, I have not come over here just to play 15 minutes, I want to get as many as I can," he said. "The longer he leaves me on, the better I'm going to be and I'm only going to get more experience over here, and that's exactly what I wanted to do."

Canberra Raiders forward Joe Tapine knows first-hand about playing through pain
Jarrod Croker wonders if Joe Tapine's hands are made of playdough but it's no laughing matter for the Raiders back-rower, who makes yet another comeback from a hand injury in Sunday's home clash with Parramatta. Tapine's latest injury was linked to the broken thumb he suffered in round 24 last season.
"They think it must have pushed something out of place, so it didn't really heal properly," Tapine said.

Canberra Raiders halfback Sam Williams gets nod to face Parramatta Eels
Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has opted to pick and stick with halfback Sam Williams.
"Sam's last two games, outside winning, his form has warranted him to keep his spot," Ricky Stuart said. "It's always a difficult position when you've got an NRL player in his wings, but that's the difference this year - we've got some pressure on positions.

Canberra Raiders and Parramatta Eels trajectories on collision course
Both 3-1. Both tasted finals footy. Both looking to bounce back from a disappointing season. Now their upwards trajectories have the Canberra Raiders and Parramatta Eels on a collision course that's set to explode.
"Both teams are pushing for that and just trying to get a good season out of it," Joe Tapine said. "We're both going to be trying to chase that W and it's going to be an aggressive game and a good game."

Canberra Raiders go back to school
Josh Hodgson or Michael Oldfield are the teacher's pet as part of 12 Canberra Raiders who are studying a certificate IV in elite athlete wellbeing management through the Wellbeing Science Institute.
"I'm just getting that knowledge behind myself and that's good knowledge for myself, and for helping others out there and my family too," Siliva Havili said.
