The Raiders v Knights one comes out at 4pm on Friday. (I know the artist doing it and I'm expecting it to be very good).
They're on instagram, if you want to keep up with what they're doing.
(GE/mods, if its not OK to post this here, no dramas, delete at will)
No worries, we've given them a RT, a share or like or something like that last week!
They'd be better off doing it a full day earlier at least, though. Or doing one for a win afterwards.
Thanks for the feedback GE
I passed it onto my mate. He says they've had a short timeframe getting the artists organised for the first couple of games but like the idea of the day before and will probably do that
(In case you're suspicious, I'm definitely passing this on on behalf of a mate, it's not my site )

Anyone know what the go is with Emre? Has anyone seen how he’s been going at Mounties? I thought he’d really push on after the back end of last year.
Same, and I thought he played well in the trials, but missing the top 21 in Round 1 might have affected his confidence. As a young bloke, he's going to have to learn how to bounce back, prove them wrong and double down. I'm really hoping he does because he was in my top 17 after the trials.

No way would Ricky play him for 80min on debut. Sutton will probably play those first 20min or so at lock and then go to the bench when Bateman shifts back there. But it's definitely more likely that there will be a change to starting middles (ie Lui or Sutton) than Bateman starting in 2nd row imo

Yep that is what I think also Pat.
We need to win that first 20 and in particular, Papa needs to win the battle with Klemmer during the game but mainly that first stint.
The other area where I think the game is decided is the kicking and in particular the long kicking game which was terrible by us last week. Say what you want about Pearce but on a week to week basis he's one of the most consistent kickers in play in the NRL. We have to at least get within cooee of matching it, we can't lose that much territory through a simple skill again. It is mindboggling that our kicking and kick-chase was streets ahead in R1 than R2 when you consider the conditions the kickers had to contend with against the Titans.
I don't want to over emphasise the importance of this game but for me winning this one will prove to me that we have actually improved since 2018. We have to win this type of game at home if we're serious in 2019.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.
I won’t be surprised if Hudson Young ends up playing no/minimum minutes, providing there are no injuries, with Havili, Horsburgh and Soliola covering front row and lock

Thanks... was looking for the more detailed stats, but those do! His numbers look pretty good this week, consistent with the eye test. Luke Bateman and JJ Collins put up some very good numbers.
Newcastle Knights fullback Connor Watson to be ruled out of Friday night's clash against Canberra Raiders with a knee injury
Mercurial Kalyn Ponga is set to remain in the halves and won't be switched back to fullback for Friday night's clash against the Canberra Raiders despite the loss of Connor Watson through injury. Kurt Mann will likely be promoted to the fullback position.
It's the type of game the Canberra Raiders need to win and Newcastle recruit David Klemmer is the player they need to stop to help make that happen.
"A lot of the responsibility the bench guys have is either maintaining or lifting the intensity and energy levels," Soliola said. "Regarding how the game is panning out, you want to make a stamp and let your teammates know you’re not afraid of things and you want to finish off the half or start off the second half with lots of energy."
We got towelled up in all departments by Melbourne (bar effort) last week, including their bigger pack monitoring ours in that first 20. But it all gets put in the "Melbourne just too good" basket.
But if Klemmer runs riot then we might have to look at our pack and get a bigger body in there- Hunt fits the bill and trialled pretty strongly. Papa, Sia, Hunt, Lui/Sutton?
If we can limit Klemmer with our current pack then maybe can just put last week down to Melbourne being too good everywhere.
The forwards just need to come out and **** **** up in defence. Rest will take care of itself.
Melbourne have some big boys but their biggest strength is their linespeed.

I tend to lean towards Sid's theory. Thats more in line with Ricky normal treatment of rookie forwards. 15mins max.
However, he was bucked that trend this yr, so I can see Pats theory too. Though, I think it will be longer than 20mins. 25-30. I think if this is the plan, Sia comes on 1st, at lock, then Young the second change, pushing Sia to prop.
Connor Watson is confirmed to miss Round 3 with a minor MCL injury. The Knights are hopeful of having him back next week. Most grade 1 MCL sprains require 1-3 weeks recovery
Connor Watson has been officially ruled out for the Newcastle Knights clash with the Canberra Raiders
Knights fullback Connor Watson has been officially ruled out of the team to play the Raiders on Friday night. He suffered a low grade MCL injury in their loss to the Panthers and has been replaced in the team by Kurt Mann.
Nathan Brown to re-evaluate Kalyn Ponga's move to five-eighth but it all hinges on the form of his fullbacks
Knights coach Nathan Brown will give Kalyn Ponga's positional switch to five-eighth "a good four or five weeks" before re-evaluating it but he says it will be the form of his fullbacks that will determine if there is a change. Connor Watson will miss Friday night's clash against the Canberra Raiders with a knee injury and utility Kurt Mann will deputise at the back in his place.
Wiser Canberra Raiders won't be caught sleepwalking against Newcastle Knights
Canberra co-captain Josh Hodgson said the Raiders can't afford to continue to play catch-up football if they are to overcome Newcastle on Friday night at Canberra Stadium.
"Last week we didn't have enough aggression getting off our line, especially early in the game and that allowed the Storm to get out to a lead," Hodgson said. "That start probably killed us for the rest of the game because they're always going to be a tough side if you give them a start like that.

Agree Hodgo. Linespeed is one thing, but aggressive contact with the ball carrier and if possible driving them backwards is a key to disrupting the opposition attacking momentum. The Chooks in last years Grandfinal had a similar size pack to us. The defensive aggression they showed should be a template for us and was not often apparent last week. The Knights will be looking to Klemmer for 'go forward'. We need numbers in the tackle for 80 minutes and not be content to make contact and then fall backwards.

The Raiders will have no changes to the 17 named though there will be a positional change with Ryan Sutton moving to the bench and Sia Soliola starting at lock. Debutant Hudson Young has been confirmed to make his NRL debut from the bench

People keep saying they had a similar sized pack to us but they also had a big scary giant running around to intimidate- Napa. He flattens smaller forwards and negates the big ones.

And why can’t they pump themselves up to do it in the first 20 minutes, when fatigue isn’t a factor??? Can anyone think of a reason, other than they must be a bunch of mental midgets??
Canberra Raiders lose Aidan Sezer on eve of Newcastle Knights game
The Canberra Raiders' have suffered a massive blow on the eve of their crucial Newcastle Knights game, losing key playmaker Aidan Sezer to an oblique injury. Sam Williams will come in at halfback for his first chance to partner new five-eighth Jack Wighton, with Raiders coach Ricky Stuart unsure how long Sezer will be out for.
