Hey Ennis, why don’t you put your thoughts and enthusiasm into some of our existing players first, you chumpLimeGreenMachine wrote: ↑March 1, 2019, 4:14 pm A ‘massive’ signing: Michael Ennis backs George Williams to solve Canberra’s play-making woes
Raiders coaching consultant Michael Ennis believes Wigan half George Williams would be a huge addition to the Green Machine.
“If they can land Williams, it would be massive,” said Ennis. “I’ve got a huge opinion on him, he’s one of the best players over there in England. To be able to come over and play with some of his mates seems like the logical fit, given Elliott, Josh and John are all there. He’s a really good defender and he’s an intelligent footballer.

He's mocking us again. It's a new and insidious form of his Viking Clap.Bennyinthewest wrote: ↑March 1, 2019, 4:44 pm Mick!

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Imagine if signing Sezer for two years cost us an NRL quality half. Could argue it already did with Johnson.
Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
Pretty silly thing for him to say for mine.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

He **** hates the joint and you can bet your **** a Sydney club would have moved things to accomodate him, as the sharks did
If SJ wanted to come here, Stick would have made it happen.

I wonder if we have scouts looking at the best 16 and 17 year olds in the UK.

Pencil him in I'm hearing
Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
We'll be a feeder side of the English national team in a few years
Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
The way ennis spoke you'd say we've all but signed him. Do people actually think he's good? If you had to compare him with an NRL player who would it be?

Moving forward I think we eliminate the use of the Viking clap during matches and instead break into "swing low, sweet chariot'.

Id legit take that over our god awful anthem and the clap... but not over highway to hell.Coastalraider wrote: ↑March 1, 2019, 6:57 pm Moving forward I think we eliminate the use of the Viking clap during matches and instead break into "swing low, sweet chariot'.
Highway to hell has got to stay, teams coming into this building need to know what they're for. Stick and his boys ready to turn the god damn heat up to 12! Maybe even 14 on a good night.

Even if it is a done deal this season hasn’t even kicked off.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

Maybe 'Land of Hope and Glory' because after the past couple of years we can only hope and in the past we had glory. When I think about it we are like the sun setting on the British Empire. Living on past glories and uncertain about the future. Waiting for the Rick-exit.Coastalraider wrote: ↑March 1, 2019, 6:57 pm Moving forward I think we eliminate the use of the Viking clap during matches and instead break into "swing low, sweet chariot'.

I'm all for signing more quality English players. Most of these players grew up in smaller northern cities like Leeds, Hull, Bradford or Wigan - so a smaller city like Canberra looks like an attractive option. The Canberra winter doesn't scare them and the climate is generally a massive upgrade. Now we've created a core group, we also offer the ability to settle into the country and the club with a few familiar accents around and shared experiences.
Raiders Lime, what they really drink in the dressing room.

George Williams has ‘a lot of decisions on his mind’, as Lam admits speculation affecting form
Wigan coach Adrian Lam believes the speculation over George Williams’ future is impacting on his current form – before admitting the half-back currently has ‘a lot of decisions on his mind’.
“He’s got a lot of decisions on his mind at the moment and it’s probably something that we need to tick off and move on from as soon as we can, as a club and him as a player,” he said.

Adrian Lam all but confirms Williams is leaving. Bit harsh, talking about poor form - I think he's gone well so far this year.

Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
I fear he’s deciding on whether to go to the Warriors or not, though.
Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
Of course it's the Warriors he is in discussions with.... The Raiders have overpaid players to stay here meaning we can't pick up a decent halfback..sigh
Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
I think we saw Sutton and Bateman linked elsewhere as well at times. I wouldn't count us out yet.

Are you certain he's going to the highest bidder and do you know the Warriors are offering more?
A lot of assumptions there.

Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
I don't see Williams as a decent halfback. He's a ball runner. It'd be just as much a gamble as signing any hot and cold 6 instead of a 7. Won't bother me if we miss out.

$500,000 price tag halting unsettled George Williams from ‘dream’ NRL move
One NRL club has been offered the release of George Williams from Wigan for the 2019 season — but only if they coughed up an astonishing $500,000 transfer fee for the England international. That’s despite Williams being off contract in 2021 and the pivot being an unproven quantity in the NRL.
Canberra is known to be interested in the 24-year-old, with Raiders coaching consultant Michael Ennis saying last week that signing Williams would be “massive” and describing the half as “of the best players” in England.

Just go back to council and get an extra apartment added to the Braddon development.

Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
If George William's form has dipped, then maybe he is no longer worth $500k
Would have won Boogs - 2016, 2017, 2018
1 part green, 1 part machine
1 part green, 1 part machine
Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
If he’s a potentially elite NRL half, then a 500K transfer fee viewed as spread over the course of a multi year contract is chump change.
And if he’s not to that standard, then make the call and move on to the next prospect. Recruitment doesn’t have to be hard - back your convictions

Don't worry Rickmando, our boy Ricky will make the right choice this year!

Re: Canberra Raiders reportedly interested in Wigan half George Williams
I reckon we are in the mix for 2020 as has been reported. This is consistent with raiders earlier comments that we'll have room in the cap next year. If we do pick him up for 2020 and Wigan keep losing games hopefully they'll soften their stance on transfer fee and we'd be a chance to pick him up before 30 June.. number of things need to fall in place for that to occur but it wouldn't surprise me if this is how it plays out
