I'd count Mick Dobson amongst pommy halves to come here and fail.
There's been fringe NRL halves go we'll over there like dobbo, rangi chase, Albert Kelly

If you watch the footage he launches at the player when he is stopped but he drives his legs again and the rest is history.

the media is making it out to be something it’s not, they are good at that

They certainly are good at that, but just a bit of eyes/head up drop late would of helped George on this occasion.

Widdop
So basically the most recent one. Can't think of too many English halves that have joined the NRL.
Does Widdop count? He moved to Australia when he was 16 and hadn't played professionally when he was in England.

Anyway, I can only think of Dave Boulton, who helped Balmain win the '69 GF, and Tommy Bishop who captain-coached Cronulla in the early '70s. I never saw either of them play live because I was too young, but I've seen enough highlights footage to suggest that Bishop was a quality halfback.

I did see Ellery Hanley play in the halves though, but he was at 5/8th.
Andy Gregory went OK.

This really needs to be turned into one of them videos where he jumps and he just keeps on going with the background changing and that crappy music in the background. I’ll keep my eye on the Raiders meme’s thread and see what old mate can come up with.

Moley reporting that it's a done deal. We've signed George Williams for three years from 2020... the question now becomes will Wigan release him early for 2019.

Canberra Raiders sign England Test half George Williams from Wigan

The Canberra Raiders have signed Wigan and England Test half George Williams on a three year deal from 2020. After initially baulking at a huge transfer fee, the Raiders have beaten the New Zealand Warriors to his signature.

This bloke can play but he’s not worth huge money.

Wonder if we have signed him if any of our excess players would be interesting to Wigan.
well, I guess you could say that I'm buy curious.

I wonder what our spine looks like in 2020 when GWilliams arrives.

1.CNK 6. Wighton 7. GWilliams 9. Hodgson
or
1. Wighton 6. Sezer 7. GWilliams 9. Hodgson

Wonder if Ricky is already pondering putting Jack back to fullback ?

I’m am excited by this signing but it does raise a few questions for this year. Where does that leave Wighton and CNK for next year?

I'd see him more of a running Five Eight so i'd say Jack back at Fullback. Jack should be back a Fullback this year. This week without Rapan and Oldfied he has to go back there but the stubborn Ricky wont do it.

Happy with the signing, we can't get anyone decent in the NRL so lets the best from England. Better than buying frindge fist graders

No idea how good or bad this guy is, dont watch ESL or international football
but posters here and other places who's opinions i respect seem to think he is pretty good

Ricky's done it again.

If he's a 5/8th though, i have to say we should immediately get Wighton back to fullback and eat **** on it for this year... because Wighton wont be our halfback, and this guy isnt going to play fullback... Our halfback will surely either be Sezer or a new recruit?

We certainly needed to sign a half or fullback going forward so good to see us get one (if reports are true). I am very interested in what he will be earning a season - any rumoured price tags floating around?

People continue to doubt our coach (I'm looking in your dirrection, Brew), but Ricky has proven that once again he's prepared to make the tough calls to fix our team's greatest weaknesses!

I know hes lined up mainly in the 6 jersey but from the looks of it hes just a left edge half. Happy to have wighton and sezer in the halves this year duking it out for right edge or wiggton adding some strings to his bow before returning to fullback

Yeah that's a decent counter argument to moving Wighton back to fullback now. His first stint in the halves, i think at least, helped his playmaking as a fullback a lot, and that's primarily his strength at the position. So another refresher course this year could be OK.

I've never been sold on wighton at 6 even if he looked good in the trials, his passing and kicking is too clunky and hit n miss.

Wouldn't surprise me if we lose a leilua or rapa in the next year or so either
