Agree with this. Rapa would be devastating at fullback and Oldfield will score heaps outside of Leilua.
CNK does look promising though. Nice to have him and Abbey there to choose from.

Ricky likes players hungry for opportunity.

He has been stuck behind the likes of RTS, Fusitua, Mamalo, "The Beast" Manu Vatuvei etc. Been a tough gig getting a run in the outside backs at Warriors lately.RTW wrote: ↑February 9, 2019, 8:01 am The fact that he has openly come out and said he wants to play fullback indicates to me that the Raiders used that carrot to lure him across.
I think a lot of us were happy with the thought of going out and luring a young talent and give him a shot like a Caleb Aikens at Penrith. At first I thought this is what we had done but as S82 inferred it is concerning that he is 23 not 21.

So, think of him as a 22yr old with an extra yrs experience
So this IS a Caleb Aikens type pick up.
What did they do GE?greeneyed wrote:Very tough post dubby... Charnze is a good name, IMO, and I don't think we should hope any player doesn't do well. He is a good young player, and seems like a good young bloke too.
One thing to add after the Fan Day today... Josh Papalii and Aidan Sezer both are credits to the club.
They are just genuinely nice people, go out of their way to say hello and be friendly, have a chat. For all the criticism Jack Wighton gets, he's another player who I've always found is genuinely friendly and goes out of his way to say hello.Danaman137 wrote: ↑February 9, 2019, 5:39 pmWhat did they do GE?greeneyed wrote:Very tough post dubby... Or ‘Dubby’ for that matter! IPigman wrote:Charnze wouldnt be in my top 20 of bad names.
It's fine.
I'll bet some of these other cultures probably think Nicholas and David are **** trashbag names too.
Crash and burn is just that , it's hope you fail miserably.dubby wrote:Burns means he lights up mate (I think). And i hope he goes really well!
Stupid name though.
Charnze.
Should be on kath and kim

I’m willing to give Jack a 2nd shot at 5/8. Last time he was there, he had a one legged Campo as his Halfback. Curious to see if he goes better with Aidendubby wrote:Pretty stupid name. Charnze.
He'll either crash or burn. Let's hope he burns.
FTR i'm not a fan of Jack at 6. Dude was horrid in his last stint in the 6.
This will be a crap season when we've got a makeshift 6 and B grade fullback.
Oh well. Worst case we send Jack to 1 and Sam 7.

With Buttriss passing him the ball and a three-quarter line featuring Allwood, Tupou and Robinson to work with.Fuifui Bradbrad wrote: ↑February 10, 2019, 7:56 amI’m willing to give Jack a 2nd shot at 5/8. Good post.gergreg wrote: ↑February 10, 2019, 11:10 am His success at 5/8, or not, is on the coach. Wighton clearly has a pretty good football brain, he has the ability to play wing, centre and has learnt the new role of fullback - pretty well considering. There is absolutely no reason he cannot adapt to 5/8. Ricky needs to let him play within his limitations and develop him.
IMO Ricky failed this aspect with Austin. Austin had a great season then Ricky tried to expand his repertoire too much, too quickly and it killed his game.
Wighton cannot be expected to lead the team around or be a tactical kicker. His kicking should be limited to hoyking it down the field, when required. He should continue to focus on the teams strengths which is good, early ball to the edges where our strike is. Our 2nd rowers are two of the best attacking weapons in the comp. Throw in BJ who is uncontainable on his day and a 1st class finisher in Cotric and I know some people don't rate him, but Croker has some great footwork if given some space/early ball. Wighton doesn't need to be a focal point.
Can Wighton do this, can he perform this role? I say yes. Can Ricky do this, can he perform his role? I really hope so, I have doubts though.

Yeah I tend to agree. He is a very good player, but he doesn't have the football brain like Cronk, Thurston, Maloney have. These are the guys that make a good team a brilliant team. They're rare, and very valuable.BJ wrote:I like Wighton but I don’t think he has a good football brain at all. Can’t agree with you there.
Too often he has done the opposite of what was required in the closing minutes of a tight game.
Again he doesn't need to be a Cronk. Our defence sucks and has for too long to dwell on. It's our Achilles and needs to be fixed. You fix your areas of weakness and play to your strengths, which I touched on earlier.dubby wrote:Yeah I tend to agree. Jack Wighton is not one of these players.
My case in point was that game in the dark vs Dragons and that bloody stupid pass
