I didn't expect this kind of 1 on 1 interview. Nice puff PR to ease him back into things.

Raiders tell Jack Wighton he'll be sacked if he misbehaves again

The Canberra Raiders have told Jack Wighton he will be sacked if he is involved in another off-field controversy after the fullback pleaded guilty to assault last year.

"Everyone has been good to me at the club for what happened. I could have easily been sacked. From Allan Hawke, [McIntyre], Ricky and Donny ... they've all stuck by me in the end and also given me the hard word that if anything ever happens again, I'm basically out the door.”

ha, na it's not that
im just lamenting that he's still involved in club matters.

He'll be propped up, Weekend at Bernie's style, at our club meetings forever

I'd say he still unofficially runs the joint.

"They’ve given me the hard word": Canberra Raiders Jack Wighton was almost shown the door

Canberra’s Jack Wighton is on his last chance at the NRL club, with the Raiders prepared to sack him if he misbehaves again.

"They’ve all stuck by me in the end, and also given me the hard word that if anything ever happens again, I’m basically out the door. It showed me how close I was to losing it all from that silly night. I let down my family. I’ve got two beautiful young girls and I thought about them more than anyone."

From that same article:

"I can't blame [any one], it took a big tool on myself and my family. I let down a lot of fans and people around the club so it's been a long 12 months," Wighton said.

I had to smile and wonder if that typo was a Freudian slip.

Is this an off-season redemption story?

Starting to feel like one. Jack’s odds of playing Origin just got a whole lot better.
