I think it would be odd to move Jack to center after the season he has had.

I'd say it would be Cotric to center and Simo or Smith Shields on the wing.

Well I hope a good replacement is coming if that's the case.

It's one random, possibly troll poster.

I'm skeptical. Only makes sense if Rapana is also going- maybe they just want to draw a line under that chapter together. But I'm leaning more toward bull dust.

I would've said it only makes sense if Rapana is staying.

I wouldn’t be against letting both go.
Good teams regenerate to stay hungry and fresh.

I’d look at Esan Masters as a younger option.

If rapa and bj leave our backline becomes
2 simonson
3 croker
4 cotric
5 oldy
I dont think we need to break the bank or rush to get anyone. Our packs going to require some extra funds in upgrades + cnks upgrade. I can really see wighton moving into a the cam murray lock role if sezer stays

I’m not looking for the next Leluia.

I think Masters has the tools to be a great piece in our backline.
Breaks tackles, can defend well and much better discipline compared to BJ.

Don’t get me wrong, I like BJ, but I believe good teams get the regeneration process right more often than not. I don’t see the value I overpaying BJ or Rapana at their ages, when you can potentially get younger replacements hungry to win.

If Leilua leaves, that’ll mean Cotric to centres and Simonsson to the wing. With Harley Smith-Shields and some other quality backline prospects in our system, Leilua leaving will only open the door for some hungry young talents. I don’t mind the decision

Smith Sheilds should be top 30. He is very good and cant wait until he comes out of a good pre season.

How quick is Smith Shields? At the moment we have a lot of power in our backline and a lot of skill but Simo is the only regular with good speed. (Oldfield being a backup)

Kris I don't think will be a regular starting FG'er. He's solid enough but hasn't shown the ability to influence a game or have an impact with the ball yet.

Smith Sheilds runs the ball back with intent everytime. Hes quick. I think he is another level compared to Kris from what i have watched. Watch Mounties last game if you can find it. I think he scored 3.

Here's the highlights:

I'd say he's somewhere in the middle of Cotric and Simo. Reubenn Rennie in the 3 played well in this game too. Always plays pretty well at that level.

If BJ is going we could do worse than having a transition year with Josh Morris. He has been one of the sharks best this year and the couple of weeks out he has here and there would give you the opportunity to rotate in young players. Brings a wealth of experience and solid defence.
He might be squeezed out by Ramien.

No to Josh Morris.
Good player, but if were offloading BJ, we want to get younger talent, not older.

Vunivalu could be forced out of Melbourne. Could be an option if we lose BJ and Raps

1. CNK
2. Vunivalu
3. Croker
4. Cotric
5. Simonsson

I'd go for that if it meant we created cap room.
You get younger, plus add more speed to the back line.

Meaning Bellamy either thinks his asking price is too high, or he has weaknesses that he doesn't want on the team.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Pretty much. Vunivalu would be a bad choice. Particularly if you think guys like Smith-Shields are in your long term plans. He'd be looking for 3 or more years and solid coin.

I used to be a Vunivalu fan up until the last year or 2. Not surprised by this move by Melbourne, I’ve noticed times he has let them down on the field more than most other players on the side.

Aside from that I’ve noticed a fair few grubby acts from him like often twisting player’s lower legs which could really do damage to their knees. Footy players only get one set of knees

Agree with you on Vunivalu, he has a bit of grub about him, especially when he's on the losing side

If we're saying we can't afford Rapana and Leilua under the salary cap... we're not going to be able to afford Vunivalu.

Some other cheaper options that have played well at stages this year:
Hymel Hunt (wing or centre)
Matt Ikuvalu (wing)

Vunivalu has a dumb error in him, and he can be drawn in field. Its no surprise they moved him outside the defensively sound Chambers. However, if we wanted an expensive winger, we wouldnt let Rapa go, and potentially be losing BJ.

Hunt is a perfect dual position cover guy. He would come as a starter, and want starting centre money. Im sure thats less than BJ, but could potentially keep a guy like Smith-Sheilds out longer term.

Ikuvalu would provide a 4th competitive option for that last wing spot with the likes of Kris, SS and Oldie. A FB by trade, so has errors in him positionally on the wing.

Other cheaper options:
Richie Kennar, like Hunt, would provide dual coverage, centre/ wing.
Do we want Brenko back?
GGM - did he re-sign with Cows? Does have an off field issue or 2 though.
Enari Tuala - did he re-sign with Cows? Dual coverage, centre/ wing.
Greg Leleisiuao - Eels thought this guy was the next Semi, before Sivo took over. Anyone seen him play this yr?
Mawene Hiroti - was highly thought of at Souffs. Havent seen much of him TBH.

Ikuvali would be a good signing. Wouldn't command big dollars at all and he would provide good competition for spots as he's a winger/centre. He's had to work hard to get a start in the NRL and he's not young by NRL standards. A signing like him wouldn't keep younger guys with bright prospects out of the team unless he plays exceptionally well and deservedly wins a regular starting spot which would be a win win scenario. Good article by Ikuvalu on Player's Voice: https://www.playersvoice.com.au/matt-ik ... ads-shoes/

If we didn't have guys like Simonsson and Smith-Shields with very good prospects pushing for starting spots, I'd be inclined to go for a player with a higher ceiling than him. But considering the position we're in, I'd definitely support a signing like this.
