He's a great junior player. Was from Cairns and moved to Brisbane as a 16 year old. Has recently moved schools to Palm Beach Currumbin SHS and been selected in the QLD Schoolboys side. The National Championships will be in Canberra in a month or so, so people should head down and see how he goes!

You talking about tannah Boyd? If so I am a fan, and my source tells me the raiders are currently putting a package together

I believe Stuart made the wrong call there by keeping Boyd over Vaughan. I always rated Vaughan.

Yeah, there is no doubt the decision to go with Boyd and Paulo over Vaughan were mistakes, but the recruitment this year and the shape the pack has taken now eases that blow considerably.

I'm listening..

I thought it was a bad attitude which caused a rift between Stick and Vaughan.

Yeah I don’t think it the time line was a clear as that. He wasn’t dropped and moved on because of off field issues
The off field issues were a symptom of how the club viewed him long term vs others

And he’s still got to own those symptoms and that’s on him. But I believe the club made their direction clear and his response was what it was.

I know that as a Raiders fan I'm guilty of looking at the game thru slightly green tinted spectacles... but I don't think there is a single forward I'd trade for Bateman right now. He's the Kawhi Leonard of the NRL, a robot programmed to play rugby league.

Short of taumalolo. I cant think of any other forward id rather have. That said when you consider that JT is on 1m, bateman probably has it over him as 'best value' forward in the game

Yeah I totally agree Young and Horns are going great guns. The English duo Sutton and Bateman have been great. They’ve brought a more professional competitive environment to the club.
Let’s hope G Williams will be the final piece. Pity about injuries though really need Hodgo back.

Yeah I think the question is a chicken/egg scenario - was he dropped to reggies because of off field issues, or did the drop to reggies change his attitude and create the off field issues.

Maybe he wasn't interested in addressing them until he got released but his off field issues hardly sounded irredeemable anyway.

It's a shame any time the club can't address those sort of things internally.

Fonua is ok but yeah where do we put him?

Even if we move on one of our current outside backs we need to be bringing in another rookie/minimum contract type back up not stocking up our cap where we already have our captain, an origin rep, Jordy Raps and Dally M 2x Centre of the year in BJ + Simonsson looking great and Oldfield still more than handy fill in + Seb Kris still being looked at.

I don't think he defends well enough. His attack doesn't offset that. Great at bringing it back though.

I don't see a place for Fonua at the Raiders. If we were looking at backs I would rather Xerri or Lomax should they become available.

I had seen nothing much of John Bateman prior to him playing for the Raiders. I would keep him on the right because - Johnny B. Gooood.

Would you put Gagai in the same mix as Fonua? Wants to leave Souths now Roberts is there in his Centre position.
Reading the above about our Backline depth and I agree, but it’s Gagai..
