I get it. You're disappointed to see him go. For me, he's another Mataora. Life goes on.

Liam Knight's statistics for ISP have dropped out of the NSWRL site for some reason. However, in summary, from my 2018 in review series:

Knight made 12 appearances for Mounties, averaging a very impressive 146 metres gained from 13 hit ups and 28 tackles per match. He also posted a total 43 tackle breaks and 22 offloads. His tackle efficiency rate (91.6 per cent) was almost as good for Mounties as it was in first grade - despite playing much longer minutes.

I don't have his average minutes for Mounties, but he was playing big minutes.

This is a real shame in my view. I liked Knight quite a bit.

The Canberra Raiders have released prop Liam Knight just two weeks after the club said he was staying put. Knight has signed with the South Sydney Rabbitohs and will join their preseason on Monday.

Yep. That was possibly one of the worst articles I've ever read. I love it how dufty rumours appear unfounded. Isn't it the role of a journalist to discover this sort of stuff. Like try and speak with someone who might know something to confirm or deny the rumour. Not that I'd believe anything that came from the club but at least try and be somewhat insightful.

This is a loss, I feel he had plenty of potential. It is not unexpected though as during his whole time here there have been rumours of him going to a Sydney club.

Yeah, that’s a pretty ordinary effort. It’d be a huge issue if we really did only have three props with four NRL games between them. You’d think a proper journalist would have explored that.

I rang Liam it went something like this:

Wayne: Hi Liam. I'm looking for a good young prop. There's an opportunity here if you want.

Liam: OK cool. Did you know your mouth is on the side of your head?

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

His stats were very good for us.
But if this is part of a swap deal for Robert Jennings then let's get it done.

We seem to be very cut throat with our younger players but more than willing to reward mediocrity from our senior players. We attempted to re-sign Austin, did re-sign Sezer, upgraded Wighton etc... Bizarre club.

Knight is a handy player off the bench. Tough and runs hard

Not sure what direction this Club is going but it looks confusing.

The ‘Runs Hard’ must be a different Knight you are talking about. His leg drive on contact is almost non existent.

I agree. People keep bringing up the game he played against Tigers. Our whole team dominated that day once Josh Hodgson came on.

Knight is a solid player. Dunno why people are lamenting his loss. JJ Collins will be an able replacement.

Knight and L Bateman were pretty much the same thing.

Not bothered by this move. One fringe middle forward leaves. Another one arrives. Situation normal for NRL roster moves. These guys are easily replaced.

From what I’ve seen Knight is a better player than Collins. Yeah like for like though and these fringe players move on all the time and clubs need to have them on minwage.

and bigger .. but I'll go back to my Jennings swap hope. Make it happen DFJ. Rapa is out for half the season. Get in a genuine FG winger.

When Rapa comes back - well BJ always wants to be a 'tough guy'. Move him into the pack where he can prove it. He is mobile and is larger than JJ Collins.

Red, your infatuation with size baffles me Image

One of the greatest props ever was Shane Webcke. He was about 185cm and 100kg.

Just cos you're big don't mean you're awesome. You need the heart.

If I'm being brutally honest I would class Beetson, Lazo, Blocker, Harrogan, off the top of my head as far better than Webcke. Throw in a few of the great forwards from the Bulldogs in the 80s/90s as well - Tunks, Gillespie for example. Webcke's greatest attribute was his longevity as a slightly better than average prop.
