Toughest preseason ever 2019

Post by -PJ- »

So...

With the boys returning to training tomorrow what can we expect ?

A game of touch and a sausage sizzle maybe ?

Either way this will be the toughest preseason ever.

No rep players of course but the rest can expect HELL !!!!

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Can we just concentrate on improving our defence this summer ?

I don't care who's gone or who's coming.

Fix our defence, it's killing us.

Seriously, back to back end of season reviews have failed to fix this.

I'm sick and tired of being "middle of the road" or worse.

Sure another tough preseason will get the boys super fit and I can't wait for the stories to come flowing out of HQ straight to the GH...all heartwarming and giving us hope.

Can we fix our defence ??

RAIDERS

Pre-season training starts: November 1

Casualty ward: Jarrod Croker (knee cap, pre-season), Ata Hingano (shoulder, early rounds)

What they need to work on: They lost 11 games by nine points or less, eight of which were by a converted try. Maybe Ricky Stuart should be looking into strategies to improve the mental toughness of his side, better preparing them for those arm wrestles. Their right edge defence has long been an issue too, with teams targeting Joey Leilua. So, that needs to be given special attention.

Manly announced their 29 man squad and Titans announced some Trialists, so we might get some info on our squad soon.

Somehow Manly downgraded Lachlan Croker to a development player.

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker on target for round one return

Jarrod Croker delivered brought good news to the first day of Canberra's pre-season training by declaring he was on track to be fit for their round one clash against the Titans at the Gold Coast.

"I'll be fine for round one. I've been doing straight-line running but now I'm back at pre-season today I'll start doing a little change-of-direction. I'm hoping to do more football-style stuff like kicking and more speed. After Christmas I'll be doing full contact and full sessions of training.

"Want longer off? Play finals footy": Croker and the Canberra Raiders ready for 2019

IT’S only been 32 days since the Sydney Roosters lifted the trophy, but the hunt to dethrone the Tri-colours has already begun with the Canberra Raiders one of four NRL clubs returning to pre-season training today.

“If you want to have longer off you play finals football. It’s pretty simple,” Raiders captain Jarrod Croker said. “Last year is done and dusted now for everyone. It’s a clean slate and fresh start for everyone. We’re keen to get into it, there’s no easy pre-season with the work. But we have to do it.”

O'Hagan is still around, as is Royce Hunt. That's 28 signed if they are in the first grade squad with Makatoa.

The focus on having more trials from fans to overcome the slow starts is, and always has been, IMO a red herring

Yes match fitness is a thing... but we're not the only club who limit exposure to trials. Put simply our entire pre-season conditioning is clearly in need of an overhaul. Two-Dads needs to step it up and make sure these dudes are ready to rock in round 1 this year... and simply playing more trials and longer minutes isn't the silver bullet.

But yeah i'm already done with any "hardest pre season ever" Bull

Pig, the first string lads played 40 odd minutes before the season starts. IIRC, you wanted more trials, or were critical of just one trial.

From a fitness POV, 2 trials means jack IMO. It's about cohesion.

Be interesting to see who's on train and trial and who's actually signed. Probably won't be able to nail it down till round 1.
Looks like Seb Kris is in one of the photos too.

Judging on past efforts I didn't expect them to be as detailed as they were. It's an excellent move forward.

Its much easier to name a list when you have overcommitted your cap in advance and removed yourself from the player market:)
