Canberra Raiders forward Siliva Havili to add versatility following breakout season

Raiders utility forward Siliva Havili is looking to add a few more strings to his bow following a breakout season at hooker in 2018.

"I was just happy to play every game last year," Havili said. "I didn't think I would do that, I didn't think I would play 80-minute games then from hooker, playing in the middle. I'm just grateful because the club gave me the opportunity to do that. It's a similar role moving into next year."

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Aidan Sezer and Sam Williams to step up to cover Canberra Raiders' lack of halves depth

Injury has depleted the Canberra Raiders' halves depth and Aidan Sezer says it's up to him and Sam Williams to step up to fill the void.

"[Hingano's] a promising player and he's got a big future ahead of him," Sezer said. "There isn't much depth in the halves and we're [Williams and I] two experienced players now so we need to step up. Hopefully lead at training and transition that on to the field."

I'm sure Havili played 7 for Tonga at the World Cup last year. Might be an option.

They worked it all out, if Williams is injured Sezer plays halfback, if Sezer is injured Williams plays 5/8th. 100% injury cover.

Yeah, depth in the halves is a huge concern.

Looking at our squad we could see Hodgo to halfback or Wighton to 5/8 if injury struck - but I'm sure Stuart has got Elliott Whitehead pencilled into both roles.

Emre Guler and JJ Collins set sights on fillingsome big Canberra Raiders boots

They're the two young faces who have set their sights on filling two very big pairs of boots.

"I want to be a starter every week, play every game, everyone wants to play NRL so it's the same for myself, I want to play every week," Emre Guler said. "With Junior and Boydy gone there's two big spots opened up there. I definitely want to get a few more games next year.

I'd say he bought Bateman as cover. Whitehead commented last season that he preferred to play backrow rather than utility.

Article regarding how a mind coach helped Scott McLaughlin after he had lost a championship by a narrow margin.

Raiders could do with one of these or 10..

When I worked at DJR they had a sports phycologist for the crew as well as the drivers. He used to work with the NSW blues from memory.

Im actually surprised they stopped the process, it worked well I thought, and coincidentally it was used in 2010 when we won the title with Courtney.

A good psychologist can make a huge difference to people's lives.

And frankly, the raiders need one.

Maybe we could target a Sports psychologist who can play in the halves. Two birds, one stone.

Or on the flip side put Seizer through uni.

Canberra Raiders Brad Abbey wants to shoulder the Jordan Rapana load

Jack Wighton's suspension gave Brad Abbey his chance in lime green, now the Canberra Raiders fullback will look to capitalise on Jordan Rapana's absence.

"It does [give me an opportunity]. We've got a lot of talented outside backs that could fill that role," Abbey said. "Everyone's got to dig in this pre-season and whoever impresses the coach the most he'll get a shot and hopefully I'm that guy.

It's best if you continue with your Abbey amnesia PJ.

JJ Collins is about 6' tall. He is on the smaller side of front row forwards. Hopefully there is a lot of fight in the dog rather than a lot of dog in the fight props he is looking to replace.
