yea I think Pigman also said it, signing Johnson is no silver bullet, as we've seen from his time at the Warriors he won't win you a comp playing behind a forward pack that doesn't create space for him, put him behind a dominant pack and you are right in the hunt though imo, for example Johnson instead of Austin behind our 2015/16 pack would be a massive shot at a premiership imoRoger Kenworthy wrote: ↑November 28, 2018, 12:18 pmIf Rapana wasn't a favourite of mine I'd probably agree. But while Johnson is an upgrade on our halves he's still not in the elite 5 or 6 in the competition. He's only made the finals in a couple of seasons with quite talented squads around him.

Johnson and Hingano on the flanks would be awesome.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Rapana is off contract and missing half his last contracted season, I don't think that rumour has legs.
He will go Sharks and end up staying there. There's probably no longer deal yet because of the cap stuff.

Why would the Warriors want Rapana they already have the best back 3 in the comp. it would be an unnecessary upgrade.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.
Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Kiwi superstar Shaun Johnson
Im not convinced we need Johnson. He isnt a player that will win you a premiership. Someone that is more consistent (like a Cronk) will.
We def need a good solid half to partner with Sezer if we are serious about 2019 and beyond.
Williams just doesnt cut it imo, he is a back-up.

Signing a marquee like Johnson is so important for the club, whether it pays off on the field or not.
Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Kiwi superstar Shaun Johnson
Can we give them Jack?
Re: Canberra Raiders express interest in Kiwi superstar Shaun Johnson
Because we have been out of the player market for top tier talent for 30 years and now we are frozen out for even your dead average normal NRL first grade tier players. We haven't signed a regular NRL starter for 3 years which is surely some kind of record!
You can't win comps without been competitive in the player market and we are the weakest team in thr market. Signing an in demand top level talent like Johnson goes a long way to fixing things.

Isn't it that obvious? We have not signed anyone of note for 2 decades, more even. When was the last Elite player we signed? I don't rate Johnson, when he is on he is great but he is far too inconsistent, but put aside that part he is considered an Elite player in the NRL.
Look we won't get him, but we really need to buck the trend, and I don't really care if we do something stupid like offer him 1.5 Million a year, more even, just to say to the NRL we can sign an elite player. If it pays off then great, if not well at least it got the fan base excited and know that we can get an elite player if we want to.

Sharks under heavy scrutiny for salary cap breaches and they are signing Shaun Johnson?
And the 2016 premiership year is all ok?
This game is taxing more and more.I think if he goes to Sharks and the Roosters next year it will drive many away once and for all.
Is it just the Roosters and Broncos that are compliant ?

Orford was also playing in the UK and was coming off a shoulder injury as well. Hardly elite at the time. Probably past it when we got him.

I strongly recommend those thinking SJ would be good here, need to read the SJ thread on the Warriors forum. Serious training issues, ego, and aloofness etc don’t read well.

SJ and Dugan. Match made in heaven.

Johnson is world class. Have a look at what the Warriors have given him over the years, in the way of Coaches and teams. I mean really, does anyone think the Warriors failures over the years are the fault of him?

Matt Elliott

Yeah, if Cronk had served out his career at Gold Coast Titans they still wouldn't have premierships. Doesn't stop him from being one of the games elite players.
Put Johnson at the Roosters and he's more chance of winning a comp there during that contract period than all of the time he's had at the Warriors.

I think if Cooper Cronk plays out his career at the Gold Coast Titans and under the coaches at the time at the Titans he isn't NEAR the player he is today, I'd think he'd just be another average half with potential.Sid wrote: ↑November 29, 2018, 8:41 am Yeah, if Cronk had served out his career at Gold Coast Titans they still wouldn't have premierships.
