Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Well I'm sure he is still raking in as much as ever, but on the books he'd be down for significantly less.

I know the talk was of $800K plus for his next contract but surely he didn't sign for that much at the start of 2017. Anyone have a ballpark for what his current deal is worth?
I'm assuming that they've stashed some money from the retirement of Lewis, possibly towards his upgrade?

Add that to what he was already on and I reckon they'd have a bit floating about.

EDIT - I guess it would also depend on what rep bonuses Holmes had. He may have signed it as a club winger, but he's played five origins and thirteen tests since then.
I vaguely recollect that Holmes got an upgrade to Fullback money prior to last season because he had a brief purple patch at the back.

DT article saying he signed a $1m contract for 2 years extension at ther start of 2017. That puts his current cap value at $500k per season.

New Zealand Warriors star Shaun Johnson reportedly to sign with Cronulla Sharks this afternoon

Shaun Johnson is set to sign a short-term deal with the Cronulla Sharks this afternoon. Following a release from the Warriors this morning, NRL clubs have begun circling for the playmaker's services.

Respected rugby league journalist Brent Read claims Johnson will sign with the Sharks on a one-year deal, with talks of a longer contract likely to be discussed between club and player.

"arrangements with another club for 2020 onwards". Why don't they just say he's going to the Roosters to replace Cronk?

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Why would the Warriors want Rapana they already have the best back 3 in the comp. it would be an unnecessary upgrade.

Not necessarily, Fusitua wants to play centre long tem and Kearney also see's his future there, The Warriors are severely lacking decent centre options so I wouldn't be surprised to see them shift Fusitua and Rapana would be the perfect replacement for his right wing spot

I love Jordy Raps. But wingers don't win comps. A decent halves combo might.

I think the rumor is rubbish but halving 2x$500k a year wingers is not the way to build a team.

Anyone who wouldn't release Rapana to sign Shaun Johnson has rocks in their head IMO.
No one in our club could get that deal done however, when it's this competitive for his signature.

If Rapana wasn't a favourite of mine I'd probably agree. But while Johnson is an upgrade on our halves he's still not in the elite 5 or 6 in the competition. He's only made the finals in a couple of seasons with quite talented squads around him.
