Josh, you want a fair go? Start by saying sorry
Tim Gore

Okay Josh, you’ve got me. You do get a harder time from the press than most other rugby league players. You said that you are now only viewed and portrayed negatively by the press and that nothing is going to change that.

But I know some things that will. Firstly, keep going with your community work and bettering yourself. At very least it will be its own reward. But most importantly you need to say sorry. I’m not talking about for every misdemeanor – real or imagined – that you’ve ever committed. I’m taking about saying sorry for basically walking out on the club that developed you and the manner in which you walked out on that club. My club.

That was unnecessary, my brain hurts.

Can we just pretend JBogan doesn't exist..and never has ?

We can go the rest of our lives not seeing him in print, radio or tv...too easy.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Anyway, stuff Josh Dugan. I couldn't care he was emotional during that interview.

He raised $15k for the kids? Yeah cool. Josh himself earns what, $700k per season? And was paid $30k for each origin game he played? Then there's his match fees for representing Australia.

Dugan is a millionaire.

He's spent more $$ on tattoos than he raised for this kid.

Josh Dugan, get stuffed.

You're an unlikable idiot. Your actions, behaviour and are why people detest you.

The sight of you laying on the ground in "pain" after every tackle doesn't fool anyone.

You are a germ. A complete narcissist spoiled by the raiders and anyone involved. Learn accountability and as Pork said, apologize. It might help.

Not like the good old days hey Josh.

I can still remember your debut for the Mighty Red V, you and your old man rubbing it into the Raiders that night.

Miss those times.

He spent that whole interview lamenting what a good bloke he is, and how he does things because he's a nice bloke and not for the good press... then asks for good press?

Dugan made his bed. He can lie in it. An "emotional" interview telling everybody he's really a good guy and misrepresented by the media changes nothing. If anything it accentuates how selfish he really is.

I'll always remember this when post the 2010 Preliminary Final... a heartbreaking loss. And Dugan didn't turn up to pick up his Fans' Choice trophy at the post match presentations at the Tradies. Jarrod Croker covered for him, in a show of class, after a difficult night.

I did feel sorry for him, after that interview and I was concerned for his mental health, actually. I'm not sure he had the best of upbringings and I'm not sure the environment of a football club, in his case, was helpful for him. But I'm also not sure I'm forgiving of how he walked out on our club and the way he treated our club, with no remorse that I've seen. And if he didn't go out and get drunk prior to Origin games, and do expletive laden podcasts with Andrew Fifita, to mention just a couple of things, maybe he wouldn't get so much negative press.

Gore does a good job of apologising to Dugan, it must have been difficult.

However, the thing which no-one wants to say (dunno how I'll get away with this) is his old man is a lifelong Dragons supporter, a complete buffoon and not exactly a model of sobriety in his public appearances. Dugan was probably under an awful lot of pressure when he was a Raider, to be at St George instead. He tried it and it didn't really work. He's now a Shark and kind of unanchored. I feel a tiny bit of sympathy. He hasn't exactly had good role models.
