It makes sense though - we lose a fullback and a centre, and the strongest player we could put in those positions we put in the wing...it’s like the halves/hooker scenario all over again!

Thanks for the correction Ed, I should have checked it before I posted.

In that case I would still go with Cotric at FB with Oldfield to center and Abbey to wing. I really think Cotric's goal line defensive ability will be needed and I don't think any other option at our club can offer what he does in that area of the game.

This is a tough selection in my opinion. I can honestly see the merit in every option. I think Ricky will go with:
1. Abbey
2. Oldfield
3. Cotric
4. Leilua
5. Rapana
6. Williams
7. Sezer
8. Liu
9. Hodgson
10. Paulo
11. Soliola
12. Whitehead
13. Papalii

14. Austin
15. Havili
16. Bateman
17. Knight

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker ruled out for rest of NRL season

Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker will need surgery on his knee, ruling him out for the rest of the NRL season. Raiders coach Ricky Stuart has several options to cover Croker in the centres, with Nick Cotric, Michael Oldfield and Brad Abbey all options against Cronulla at Shark Park on Friday.

The more you watch that length of the field effort the more you appreciate just how **** quick he is. He just glides.

Bad news for Croker. The club needs to devise a plan to try put some more size in him while he’s not playing. Obviously nothing crazy but if they could get some more muscle on his frame he’ll be a better player in 2019. All the best with the rehab skip.
We continue to **** about with blokes that are part of some fraternity. It's infuriating.

I'm not a fan but I understand why he wouldn't want to play Austin at center for 80. What I don't get is not playing Cotric at center when Oldfield is in such good form on the wing. There won't be a better opportunity.

Our bench leaves a lot to be desired. One thing against the Cowboys to run that bench, another to go in against the Sharks looking like that.

It’s the least disruptive option by just replacing one player on the edge.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Would have liked to see Cotric at centre but it’s not really a biggie, it’s probably easier these days to have an impact on the game from the wing rather than centre.

Will be interesting to see who comes onto the bench. I assume Havalli as utility and maybe Murchie slots in.

Aidan Sezer joins Canberra Raiders captain Jarrod Croker on the sidelines

The Canberra Raiders' injury woes have deepened with halfback Aidan Sezer injurying his hamstring during goal-kicking practice on Tuesday.

It's a massive blow for the ninth-placed Green Machine who sit two wins outside the eight and need to win almost every game for the rest of the regular season to keep their finals hopes alive. It's unclear how long Sezer will be out for. Blake Austin will come into the halves.
