Referee crackdown on slowing of the PTB has come at a good time with us facing the sharks.

Yeah probably, I’m just concerned with the might of the Sharks forward pack we will lose the roll on we need at the first change.Dusty wrote:I think there is more chance of Murchie coming on after about 20-25 and Sia moving straight into the middle then.LastRaider wrote:Has Austin been confirmed at 6? I just looked up Murchie's DOB and saw that it is 1997. Quite a few in this team now weren't even born the last time the Raiders won a premiership.

Are we talking drug and alcohol fuelled rampage through New York or is it more bubbleresque?

I believe that if Wighton was in the team, Cotric would be named in the centres.
But as Abbey is there, I reckon Cotric is named on the wing so he and Abbey can switch a lot easier mid game when required to. It is too disruptive for a centre and fullback to swap roles mid game.
To me, that would be my reasoning to naming Cotric and Oldfield as they are.

Josh Hodgson will take control of Canberra Raiders in Aidan Sezer's absence
Josh Hodgson will not only take the Canberra Raiders reins as acting captain, but the Green Machine keys as well in the absence of Aidan Sezer.
"Sammy [Williams is] very good at controlling the game, but Aidan is very vocal on the field for us, especially when we get down to the other end. I'll just make sure everything's clear, make sure everyone knows what we're doing before we go anywhere, especially with a few changes to the side."

I wonder what Sticky watches. Up to this round we are second to Souths in terms of try scoring in 2018. The spine is the focus of attack. We are one try below the comps highest point scoring side. They are coming first and we are running ninth. Where does Stick concentrate? Our attack ?? And not the obvious problem - Our defence. Sticky continuing to shove it in our faces.Brew wrote: ↑July 17, 2018, 9:40 pm He already had the excuse on NRL 360 which he said our spine has only played one game together this season and that was against the Tigers...

Cronulla Sharks forward Scott Sorenson keen to show Canberra Raiders what they're missing
When Scott Sorensen plays against former club Canberra for the first time, he will test himself against a forward pack he was seldom able to crack during his time in the nation’s capital.
“There is a little bit of that but I try not to get caught up too much in playing the old team, that sort of stuff,” Sorensen said. “I want to play well for my team and not get caught up in getting back at them or proving a point. The point I want to prove is to play well for my team and do the job on the weekend.

Sam Williams or Blake Austin to cover Canberra Raiders kicking duties
Sam Williams and Blake Austin are favourites to take over the goal-kicking duties, with Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart to let the pair to decide on the night.
"Sammy and 'Austo' will look at the kicking roles I'd say. We've got a few guys there who have the ability too - Brad Abbey's a good kicker as well," Stuart said. "But I see Sam and Austo probably sharing that role. They were both practicing [on Thursday] after training and I'll leave it up to the boys once they get out there. But they've both been practising and they strike the ball well."

The Sharks fan who wants the Canberra Raiders to win
EIGHT years ago, Canberra forward Liam Knight was fresh off the Sharks Supporters Club bus, screaming at the Raiders players. This Friday night, he’ll be on the receiving end — and his mates can’t wait.

Either way, it's never ideal when you're down to your third stringer.

We are just lucky our first and second stringers are so good...maybe our third is just as good as some of the others teams first/second choice!

I can't think of any side that has a better backup than us. Sezer would be first choice at most clubs.summitone77 wrote: ↑July 20, 2018, 11:08 am We are just lucky our first and second stringers are so good...maybe our third is just as good as some of the others teams first/second choice!

Austin has 61.11% in the NRL. Kicked 8 from his 1st 9, at Penrith. Then only 3 of the next 9 at Tigers.Timbo wrote: ↑July 20, 2018, 10:55 amAustin has kicked in FG for the Tiges though, so maybe that gives him an edge?Northern Raider wrote: ↑July 19, 2018, 7:23 pm Williams been kicking for Mounties. Sammy has never kicked in the top grade - neither NRL or ESL.

In blustery conditions Sammy kicked very well last night. He had a very good all round game I thought. I'll be interested in GE's rating on this performance. I will go with an 8 but think GE will go with a 7.
