I love how it’s all about family etc now he’s going to England? Sounds like no one here wants him.

Re: Blake Austin set to leave Raiders
Just as it wasn't here yet:
Parramatta Eels meet Canberra Raiders five eighth Blake Austin over potentially replacing Corey Norman
Parramatta have met Canberra five-eighth Blake Austin about the potential of joining the club next season as a potential replacement for Corey Norman.
The Eels are keen to explore the idea of Austin as Mitchell Moses's halves partner for 2019, but they won't be in a position to do so until they know whether Norman will be at the club.

Would be a good signing for the Eels. The new stadium needs a turnstile

Re: Blake Austin set to leave Raiders
It's my understanding that Austin told the Raiders more than 18 months ago that he would not re-sign, by the way.
Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

Think about this....
Moses and Austin as the halves.
Thats 40 missed tackles a game right there

They’re in dire straights if Austin is their answer.

I'd throw some serious coin at Tyrone May if the Panthers were willing to offload him

You should be able to reduce the coin required if you sell a permanent starting spot.

Yeah May is the sort of talent we should be taking a punt on.

Played a fair bit of footy last year for them when Moylan was out.
Well worth a punt.

Tyrone may? I’ve been telling anyone that will listen that we should be after him. He’s had a disrupted few seasons with injuries, but he’s a real talent. The only impediment is the gentleman’s agreement we have with the pamfas- we don’t poach each other’s juniors

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.
If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

Blake Austin will be great asset at Canberra Raiders or Parramatta Eels: Junior Paulo
Canberra prop Junior Paulo said he has no insider information as to the future of current teammate Blake Austin after Parramatta met with the Raiders five-eighth about joining the club next season.
"Blake's his own man and whatever decision he's going to have to make for his future is going to be up to him," Paulo said. "Parramatta for me is next year and I think whatever happens with Blake and where he's at, he'd be beneficial to any club that he goes to.

Watching Norman last night I have to say Ive changed my mind. If his head is in the right space he would be great for us. I thought his passing, kicking and game management were, apart from the last 6 minutes, very good.
Just the cure we need for the problems we have with Austin. Defence another question.

Id be happy if we covered $600k of his $900 deal. And if austin is not after a huge deal, as he has stated, then its a win win for both clubs.

Re: Blake Austin set to leave Raiders
Not quite though. That means we would be paying a total of $600k for our 5/8. If Austin is 'not after a huge deal', he would still be on $5-600k, meaning financially there is limited benefit in the move for Parra. They lose 1 underperforming half, and pick up another underperforming half with little to no financial benefit. I think we would need to chip in $7-8k of that figure for it to become attractive to them. Because teams like the knights will be keen to throw that sort of money in, and they are more attractive a team than we are right now with Pearce and Ponga.woppadingo wrote: ↑June 29, 2018, 12:28 pm Id be happy if we covered $600k of his $900 deal. Re: Blake Austin set to leave Raiders
Not sure about that. If they're after Austin, they must think hes better than Norman. If they are paying him even $500k, plus covering $300 k of Normans salary, they are $100k better off.Coastalraider wrote: ↑June 29, 2018, 12:34 pmNot quite though. Re: Blake Austin set to leave Raiders
I would be happy to pay Norman up to the full salary if we had to on a long term deal. He would be the best half we have signed in a very long time and we need stability in this position so a 4 year deal would be good. Just my 10 cents worth

I think the commentators said he has 13 forced dropouts for the year, which I think is more than our entire team...

Yes, this is true. His repeat kicks make him worth top dollar. Imagine the Raiders attack applying sustained pressure.
