Canberra Raiders prop Shannon Boyd signs with Gold Coast Titans

Post by LastRaider »

Posing the question after watching Paulo play 65 minutes against South Sydney and Boyd not coming on until the 52nd minute. Does anyone know?

Also saw an article about the Titans saying they're looking at him. Gosh I hope not - I'd much rather change coach.
Gina Riley: Oh, come on, John. That’s a bit old hat, the corrupt IOC delegate.
John Clarke: Old hat? Gina, in the scientific world when they see that something is happening again and again and again, repeatedly, they don’t call it old hat. They call it a pattern.

Is Boyd on the way out?

Post by gangrenous »

Looked a bit like it. Could be the junior GE alluded to earlier this week.

Would explain why GE was super unhappy too. To lose one rep quality forward may be regarded as a misfortune. To lose both looks like carelessness...

Is Boyd on the way out?

Post by LastRaider »

Well I’m thinking two things.
1. Boyd is gone, and now the raiders are desperately trying to save Paulo and Paulo has requested more minutes, more leadership etc to stay
2. Boyd is a done deal to stay, and Stuart is testing Paulo’s worth by seeing how he will go with more minutes and if there is an appetite by the board to retain him at the price he wants

I think everyone is reading too much into Stuart's eccentric use of the bench.

Son, we live in a world that has forums, and those forums have to be guarded by Mods. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Nickman? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Lucy, and you curse GE. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that GE’s moderation, while tragic, probably saved lives; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, keeps threads on track and under the appropriately sized, highlighted green headings.
You want moderation because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me on that forum -- you need me on that forum. We use words like "stay on topic," "use the appropriate forum," "please delete." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very moderation that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you get a green handle and edit a post. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about moderation.

The spiral of silence refers to the idea that when people fail to speak, the price of speaking rises. As the price to speak rises, still fewer speak out, which further causes the price to rise, so that fewer people yet will speak out, until a whole culture or nation is silenced. This is what happened in Germany.

If you do not speak, you are not being neutral, but are contributing to the success of the thing you refuse to name and condemn.

You all have much more faith then I do. I fear while all the noise is about Austin, Paulo etc, Boyd has quietly signed a 3 year agreement with Cronulla Sharks and its going to be announced the week of round 10, when we play the sharks.

Boyds lateral movement is a disgrace, he makes paulo look like glen morrison out there.

Between austin and boyd, I only wish sam williams could come back into watch a symphony of attrocious defending.

Rickys use of the bench is usually rubbish. However, there is reason to believe that he brought on mobile middles to try and cover up the holes in the middle vs the Bunnies.

That said, I not convinced that was it.

I didn't think Havilli was causing defensive issues. Mind you he may have been, and I was blinded by the atrocious right edge defence.

If that’s true our coach needs to leave right now. Havili looked good, again, in the first 20 minutes, and then to have him sit on the bench for 50 minutes (over half the game!) and come back with ten to go and the game well and truly sunk was ATROCIOUS use of the bench

He wouldn't be a huge loss. You need a really hardworking pack to account for having a high impact 30 minute player in the modern day. We haven't had that for a year and a half now, so Boyd is a luxury we can't afford.

We have a club culture where nobody will ever admit they got something wrong. Considering we extended him so early I think Stick will get at least an extra year to do his worst, where other clubs would have sacked him.
