Raiders666 wrote: April 18, 2018, 10:55 am It's a lot better than being 2nd last with no wins like we were 3 weeks ago.. Good grief you guys are miserable. We will beat Souths and we will make the 8 and push for the top 4 by seasons end. You heard it here first!
I been hearing it from the players and coaching staff for the past 18 months

I hope your right as well - but it it’s just a continuation of constant puff piece articles and the same old complacent quotes followed up by the total opposite application on the field from this regime. I can pass 2017 - but the fact that nothing has changed for the 1st month of this season despite another full off season just leaves me sceptical.

Its about this time of the week that the Canberra Time runs the headline
“ (quote player here) says Canberr Raiders are wary of (quote said weekly opposition here) and not taking them lightly”

I put $100 on us to win the premiership @ $68 after the Manly loss 👍

Can only hope can't we?

If we do that we are a top 6 side imo... We have ability in spades, it's the mental side of the game which we seem to constantly struggle with imo.

There are plenty of people commenting on how 'negative' it gets here, well, given all the disappointments we have had year in year out for MANY years I think people are more than justified in being pessimistic.

I want us to get smashed so Ricky will be sacked! Nah, I'm not that bad.

The boys have got us excited about 2018 again that's for sure. I mı̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̸̨ade you touch the screen. :P

Josh Hodgson backs Canberra Raiders to handle Sam Burgess boost

Having played alongside him for England, Canberra Raiders hooker Josh Hodgson knows how massive an inclusion Sam Burgess is. But the injured rake has put it on the Green Machine pack to continue the "very good signs" they've shown in recent weeks against South Sydney.

"He's obviously a big boost for them, but in saying that we just need to look at ourselves," Hodgson said. "Sam's a good player and played some good footy, but we've shown some very good signs as well.

It's mainly the "i want us to get smashed " part that gets to me..
I've been around long enough to know premierships aren't won in april and im tipping the top 8 to look very different by september.
Last yr was probably the most dissapointing season to me in almost 20 yrs and yeah if they don't make the 8 this yr it's certainly time for heads to roll. In saying that I've seen enough this yr to confidently say we still have what it takes to at least make the 8. Call me crazy

VIDEO: Canberra Raiders centre Joey Leilua: The feeling around the place is pretty good

Centre Joey Leilua says the forwards are the ones that deserve the credit for the performance of the outside backs.

“Jordan and I just pull of those plays because of the work the forwards do and they don’t get enough credit for our team and you see all the spark from the outside backs but its usually the forwards that get us on the front foot and we just do what we usually do because of our instincts” Leilua said.

I can’t be stuffed looking into this too deeply. But I suspect this is garbage.

A quick look suggests last year only 2 teams climbed into the 8 that weren’t there in round 6. In 2016, the only in was Titans into eighth and out the door.

It’s much more probable that the top 8 does resemble what we have now at the end of the season. The concern is justified.

Canberra Raiders to wear Women in League jerseys on Saturday

The Canberra Raiders will wear their 2018 Women in League Jersey this Saturday, when they take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Central Coast Stadium.

The Raiders and Canberra Region Rugby League, have made an increased commitment to promoting the values of inclusion, respect and engagement for all over the past 12 months and will feature the words ENGAGE, INCLUDE, RESPECT on this year’s jersey to symbolise this continued commitment.

And are those shorts blue ?

Love the blue shorts.

Back in the day I remember the white Video Ezy jersey with the Bega sleeve sponsor. The blue shorts with the yellow and white stripe topped it off nicely.

Canberra Raiders face biggest test against South Sydney Rabbitohs

It's the Canberra Raiders' biggest test since their mini revival and captain Jarrod Croker is looking to their renewed defensive starch to help them go Rabbit hunting.

"There's no denying it's a massive test this week. You mention those three Burgess boys, Damien Cook's probably up there as one of the chances to play Origin for the Blues this year, and then Inglis and Gagai and Alex Johnston and guys like that, Adam Reynolds, it's a fairly good team and they're playing really good footy.

Inglis showing signs of return to regular transmission against Canberra Raiders

He's terrorised the Canberra Raiders his whole career and Queensland legend Greg Inglis is showing signs he could do it again. In total, he's scored 17 tries in his 17 games against the Raiders - including four doubles and a hat-trick.

"It's good to see [Inglis] back. He's getting six, seven, eight matches under his belt where he's really starting to hit his straps and it's good for the game," Jarrod Croker said. "Hopefully he's not hitting his straps too well this weekend, but I'm confident [Leilua] can look after him this weekend."

Matches against Souths are the only ones when I don't object to a change away from the lime green strip. I know TV prefer the light/dark colour contrast but lime green is so different to every club but Souths I wish the home/away strips were predominately lime green.

The most improved player at your club in 2018

Canberra Raiders: Joe Tapine

Canberra didn't have too many stars in their 0-4 start to the season but former Knights forward Joe Tapine (who missed two of those losses with a thumb injury) has been absolutely immense in their two wins since. His stats in the win over Canterbury (35 tackles, three busts, 89 metres) do no justice at all to the quality of his contribution. He was the best forward on the field by a country mile and only pipped to the man of the match award by Aidan Sezer's match-winning display. He backed it up against the Eels last week where he was again arguably the best forward on the park again.
